I'm a bit disappointed to discover that this version of iTunes doesn't let me select one song and play it, which is something I've been able to do in every other version of iTunes. It seems for the time being that the only way to work around this is to double click on the song of your choice. I'm also annoyed about the fact that the song link arrows have mysteriously reappeared, despite downloading a special script to prevent them from appearing.

I saw SteerMouse listed on MacUpdate, read the favourable reviews, and thought I'd try it out as a possible driver replacement to use with my ancient Kensington Optical Elite Mouse when I upgrade to Mavericks. I un-installed the Kensington MouseWorks software, installed the SteerMouse driver, and immediately noticed a problem. When I tried to set the mouse commands to mimic the ones I'd been using for years in MouseWorks, they would work initially, but the minute the Steer Mouse window was closed, the buttons would switch themselves. For example, I had the right button set to be the primary clicking button, and one of the side buttons to be the right-click button. When I tried to do this in Steer Mouse, the two switched themselves without any warning. I'm running Snow Leopard and am now very confused and a bit sad that I'm going to have to get a new computer mouse.

I tried to use DiskMaker to create an installer disk for my USB stick, and it didn't work. First, I got an error saying that it wouldn't let me copy the file because of error 0. I searched this error and reformatted the USB stick to the Mac Journalled format, but to no avail. I then reformatted it back to FAT-32 and then back to Mac Journalled again. This time, I got a different error saying that "The disk could not be created because of an error: An error occurred: -10006. Finder got an error: Can't set disk 'Install OS X Mavericks' to 'OS X 10.9 Mavericks Install Disk.'" Am I missing something? I'm currently running Snow Leopard.

Thanks for the reply, marrie.

I definitely formatted the USB stick in OSX Journalled mode, but I'm not sure I set it to have a GUID partition.

After spending far too long trying to figure out what I did wrong, I ended up using the Mac World blog instructions and made an installer disk on my USB stick using Disk Utility and Terminal.

Perhaps I'll try it again with another USB stick when the improved version of Disk Maker is released. :)

Every time I go to change something in my preferences, I get this weird grey square in the upper left corner. I think it must be some sort of bug. Has anyone else noticed this as well?
