This is a great replacement for Blacktree's iTunes-BPM Inspector, which no longer works on Lion. I tried pretty well all the products except the really costly ones and this one does the best job overall, at a reasonable price point.

Overall, I've been pretty happy with iClipboard, but the changes to version 4 were a mixed bag. Some of the changes were great, while others were a step backwards.

Allowing the use of multiple "projects" is a great idea, but in practical terms it really doesn't work. When you're busy working on projects, you don't have time to think about changing your iClipboard settings every time, so ultimately you end up with a whole lot of unrelated clips in one place.

That wouldn't be so bad if it worked like older versions, where you could protect clippings. But removing that option to permanently protect clippings was a huge step backwards. Now you have to delete all or manually remove what you don't want. That's really bad. Manual removal takes way too long. One saving grace is that when you name your clippings they aren't automatically deleted when the time limit is reached. But it's not as good as it used to be in that regard.

Clippings don't always work. Far too often I've had to click the "Edit" link and re-save an older clipping before it will work again. Doesn't matter if it is set to plain text or rich. But in terms of how the app handles plain vs. rich text, version 4 is an improvement.

The newer version does a better job of memory management, with much more stability. But it is a bit slow overall. Even deleting clips takes at least 2-3 seconds each (on a new Mac Pro no less), a lifetime in computer time. When deleting clips with complex formatting or foreign characters it can take up to 8 seconds, which I consider unacceptable. And during the deletion process, iClipboard freezes up so you can't scroll or do anything else in the list until those seconds are up. This is cumbersome.

I really like this application. I was using another product called "Sync Two Folders" but this one has a better interface with good feedback of what's happening during the transfer, including a really excellent log after each transfer. A couple of interface shortcuts, but I was impressed with how interested the developer was in considering these improvements and asking questions about my suggestions. Overall, while there is room for improvement, very impressive start.

Too little, too late. I used this program for many years and it has been very useful. But its interface weaknesses have not been addressed for years. As a Palm Treo user who also needs a mobile version, there are other apps like SplashID, Yojimbo and 1Password which do the same thing with more modern interfaces and better features. After looking at these carefully, I selected SplashID as the replacement to Web Confidential and it has been a very happy transition. It's unfortunate that it came to this, as just some simple improvements to the application would have kept me in the family.

MacTheRipper 2.6.6 used to work great, but recent updates by Apple seem to have broken the app. All it does now is continuously ask for the "save to" folder and then do nothing. I use Handbrake to rip my DVDs to Apple TV and my iPod, but some of them have problems with the audio, so with those I first convert them to digital Video TS folders to get around the problem. Guess I'll have to go the long way around now.
