Thank you for this efun and educational program. I go to country villages in Northeastern Thailand twice a year for several weeks to visit my sons and do research. Children of all ages come to visit me and be entertained. I simply open my computer to Tux Paint and SuperTuxKart and let them play for hours. Being available in Thai is also a great benefit. Thanks again.

What's not to like in this program. The grandkids (and me) LOVE it and play on it and THEY spend hours doodling, etc. Nice sounds, nice graphics, nice Macintosh compatibility... thank you.
Maybe this company should write educational softwares for children as they do an excellent job.

My twin, five year old grandchildren taught themselves in ten minutes. Then played with it for the rest of the afternoon. Perfect!

Great start but a lot of features are lacking. It doesn't tell you where the files are saved, allow you to name them or open old ones. The stamper only stamps little penguins and the colors are limited.

Actually, the README documentation tells you. ;^)

"allow you to name them or open old ones."

Naming files was not something I had planned originally, since the program was meant to be as simple as possible. However, a number of teachers and parents have asked for this capability, so it's planned for a future version.

As for opening old pictures, just click "Open!" Duh! ;^)

You obviously didn't install the Stamps collection. It's a separate download, as it weighs in at about 2x the size of the program itself. It currently contains about 200 pieces of imagery, some photographic, some drawn. As this collection grows, it will be split into separate downloads (e.g., "coins" will be separate from "fruit" will be separate from "planets"), and Tux Paint will at that point provide a method of navigating the various collections (rather than lumping them all together, like it does now).

Enjoy!

Little children aren't supposed to worry about where files are saved. :^) It is, however, documented in the README documentation. Additionally, the Tux Paint Config tool lets you override where files are saved, if you'd like (it can be useful in networked labs at schools, for example).

Finally, to open previously-saved images, just click "Open", and a dialog will appear showing thumbnails of all previous works!

PS - I have my own Mac now (thanks to the folks at icculus.org), so I'll be able to dedicate more time to the Mac port.

This program is GREAT! Never saw such an easy to handle and yet functionable paint program with even a nice interface too! Excellent work. Congratulations!

FYI, the 'crash on Open' bug that got introduced in 0.9.11 was fixed in 0.9.12. Sorry about that! ;^)

Nice kids app but check it for bugs. App quits when you choose to open something. My daughter loves it though.

If you've got kids, don't dowload this, because they'll simply take over your computer. Aimed at kids and very good at this. You can even download more stamps. Very nice.

Since it's Open Source, it's trivial (you don't even need to know how to program) to change the way the interface looks!

Tux Paint worked on an iMac DV G3 with 10.3.9, but not on 10.4.11 on the same machine.

The app crashes with the following log entry:

Link (dyld) error: incompatible cpu-subtype

Fun little app for my 3+ old daughter. Clever sound effects and good customization ability in Tux Paint Config (which still launches in 10.4.11).
