I'll never buy Epson product again...support for EPL 5700i with mac osX (and not 10.4!) has been aweful.

All was working well until I upgraded to OS 10.4... Damn you, Epson. Damn you to hell.

At last! And I was about to jettison my 5700i too! Glory be! Works great, less costly than Inkjet too!

I am glad to see it is not just me. For about a week, my old Epson worked fine in Panther. Then it quit altogether. I tried all the things described by other frustrated users before I read this page & realized it is futile... I guess I'll stick to my trusty but cheap ink jet printer for now.

Terrible driver--what a waste of time and effort. I'm getting a new laser printer, I'm afraid.

I agree with all of the other reviews here. The EPL-5700i worked OK in OS 9, although it has always been slow. It has never worked well in OS X. First we had to wait a year (a YEAR!) for the OS X driver to come out. Now, in OS 10.3 (Panther), it doesn't work at all. Mine worked sporadically for about a week and then quit working altogether. Nothing has helped. I tried rebooting, reinstalling the dirver, messing with the cords. I know the printer and connection work, as I've printed in Classic. In OS X, the printer is a really big paperweight. You can't change the defaults, it prints about one page per minute, and it works only once in a blue moon. Most of the time, it just hangs on processing a job and either stops all the jobs or hangs forever. Total JUNK!!! Avoid like the plague. Go with an HP.

Epson's 5700i printer driver for OS X is awful! I had no problems using the 5700i with Classic, in fact, I thought it was fabulous. Epson offers no solution to the impossibly slow printing in OS X. If you try this driver in Panther, you get all kinds of problems. The print cycle hangs in the middle of the process, then the jobs automatically stop. Shutting down and restarting helps sometimes, but you never know if you will be able to print or not. Epson better get on the ball and fix this Panther compatibility problem.

I have an EP photo 820 and it is the biggest waste of $ ever. would not recommend to anyone. Epson ended up replacing it 2x and it still doesn't function properly, slow, poor quality, etc. I've been on the phone countless times...even wrote a long descriptive letter complaining, but of course they didn't respond. Do NOT buy an epson!!!

I've used Epson printers for years and never seen anything as bad is this OS X driver! It is designed to automatically select A4 paper and then gives you an error. Slow! No way to change defaults once installed. No instructions. Pure crap!

The most unbelieveably crappy printer driver ever dreamed up for an upgraded computer! I agree with everyone here. I can't believe I bought this 5700i ONE YEAR before I changed to Mac Jaguar. What a waste. (One small note: It worked great until I changed OS. Now it seems that Epson could care less to support the printer. I'll be spending my money on a NEW PRINTER... But it will NOT start with an "EP" and end with a "SON".

absolut garbage - do not bother to download. cart up your epson printer, donate it to your public school (b/c they use pc's) and go buy a brother or hp printer for your mac.

It prints soooooooooo slow! I could install Classic OS, and use the classic driver to print out a document in the time it's taking this X driver. Friggin ten minutes for nine pages. One at a time with pauses in between. Suck city.
