The HP Drivers for the new officejet
cause kernel crashing. HP blames
apple and says that Apple has to fix
the OS. I think we know better.
The new macos is rock-stable.
Most applications don't crash like HP's.
I have over a dozen e-mails and
no one can seem to fix the problem.
More disturbing is that they
cannot admit that they have a problem.
To add insult to injury,
when asked, they refuse to assign
a case number to the problem.

This is a broken driver in
a broken company with broken
tech support.

P.S. The printing works OK,
it is just the scan feature in
the office jet that is problematic.

And the hardware is OK too.

On the surface it sill sucks that it is polling the USB bus thus suckking up precious system time (slowdown!!). HP assumes we are idiot users which are unable to launch an application to scan!

Finally, someone is developing a cure for this crap:
HP Comm Killer 1.0

Alternatively, just install GIMP-print and discover how fast your OfficeJet can REALLY print.

Well, as with others, I too have had problems with past HP drives seamlessly / properly / consistently supporting my G55 OfficJet on Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. This latest driver (6.3.7) does a much better job in supporting the OS X (10.3.3) interface, time will tell if it has the same "lost USB connection" problems of past drivers, but on the surface it looks better. The HP Workplace app (useless to me) has been replaced with a better Mac OS X like interface. Something settings and preferences will not transition from old Workplace to new HP Director application, no impact to me. The installer would only download with MS IE, the Apple Safari version of the download would not launch. Installer is buggy, had to click on "Cancel" button to get installer to move forward with install (Vise pop up window would hang at start).

On the surface, I must say you certainly work for HP or for Microsoft, because this software is completely useless to normal users who 1) do NOT want to fuzz around and 2) expect a STABLE system and 3) just WANT TO PRINT and scan (pending on HP's goodwill). Note that nobody is asking for fax, because we already got used to print first, and then fax the hardcopies.

This crap never ever worked. Not for a week in a row.

This software has not ever worked since I bought this crap three years ago. Using GIMP drivers at least the printer works. Total crap !

Terrible work by HP. This awful driver doesn't work on 10.3, barely works on 10.2. After years of using HP printers, thier poor software and support has convinced me to switch to Epson.

HP software is HORRIBLE! Should NOT be considered MAC compatible. I've had this HP for over a year now, and after a month of trying to work the bugs out with HP and Apple support, it continues to cause multiple crashes each day. Used to love HP, and the hardware is probably still good, but the HP all-in-one software ( for the Officejet 6110 running OSX 10.2.8) is plagued with problems. Wish I could find a way to install TWAIN and other drivers without installing software! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT GET AN HP all-in-one if you're using OS X! I'll never buy another HP, and I've have had 7 other HPs (used with windows--ugh) up to this point! HP has lost me as a customer-please investigate before you purchase!

HP is not much better on the Windows side either. It is absolutely without question that they rush their software to the market place and do not care about the bugs or bother to try and fix them.

I am a mac user but I have a mother with windows 98 who bought an HP officejet 6110xi all-in-one for her windows 98. I have had to reinstall her system 3 times now and from all the symptoms I have to conclude it is a severe memory leak

My case just got bolstered by the fact that I spoke to a tech this morning and he has had 4 other people in the last couple weeks tell him about the same issues on Windows 2000 and XP.

He tried, in fact, to talk to HP and they just did not care. Heck, I found other issues on their own web site that I encountered installing the printer for my mother that their own techs (In India, by the way) did not know about.

After reading the reviews here, it is incredibly obvious that HP just does not care about how well its products work. They just want to get them to market.

An improvement, but it still sucks. The 'HP Commmunications' background process crashes five times a day. The G85 also sucks under Windows 2000. Too bad, it looked so good when I bought it, but it's over 2 years later and it still sucks ass. I'll NEVER buy another HP multi function product.

The g series officejets are NOT supported with v 5.5.6. Use v 4.6.3 at URL http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/eng/software_drivers.htm

This is not the correct driver the the g series. Should be v 4.6.3 on www.hp.com and then driver downloads
