From my recent survey of and blog post on link checkers:

"Two programs win honorable mention for being particularly ugly and non-Mac-like: _______ and BLT (Better Link Tester)...BLT also picks up [Flash and JavaScript] and was particularly fast in its scan without taking down my test site (as others did if they didn't have a delay), but being ugly and non-intuitive takes it out of the running.

Nice that someone has picked up BLT. But BLT is in need of a serious developer who is going to iron out the bugs.

BLT checked links for me but had a good go at crashing my MacBook Pro filling the console with this message many times/second: 25/11/10 2:04:07 AM BLT[58711] BLTTreeResultsOutlineView: numberOfChildrenOfItem:(null)

Bad trait writing out constantly to the log like that. Will cripple and slow your computer even with an SSD.

Not only that but BLT was hit with an ugly stick at creation. The whole app really needs to be rewritten.

No Longer Supported? - Buggy

You must check the links for an entire site. If you try to start in a sub-directory, the application crashes.
You cannot use the stop button because the application crashes.
The developer does not respond to email or trouble tickets.

I have some exciting news regarding BLT, it has been acquired by Before Dawn Solutions.

BLT will join skEdit as our two main development application offerings.

Any support issues can be sent directly to us at support [AT] Before Dawn Solutions {dot} com.

We are busily working on the 1.0.4 release, which has some bug fixes, it adds in a bug reporting feature, a software update feature, and a new licensing mechanism.

It will be coming out soon, in conjunction with the relaunch of the website. Until that time it is still possible to purchase BLT from bltformac.com, and download from there as well.

OS X Friendly - Uses the same URL caching mechanism as Safari, uses the Keychain for authenticated sites, results filtering by search field, etc.
