Menu Extra Enabler is a haxie that enables the use of third-party Menu Extras (the things on the right side of the menu bar. such as Cee Pee You, Spy, and many others) to run on Mac OS X. Mac OS X 10.2 introduced a block that prevents third party Menu Extras from loading. This haxie allows you to use all of them again on Jaguar, Panther, and Tiger.
What's New
Version 1..0.4:
  • No code changes were made directly to Menu Extra Enabler.
  • Updated to the new installer that takes care of InputManager privileges on Mac OS X 10.5.
  • Important Note: On Mac OS X 10.5.x, Menu Extra Enabler must not be installed in the user's home folder (~/Library/InputManagers) as it will prevent MEE from loading even if MEE is installed globally. If you are a developer installing MEE, make sure MEE is not in the user's home folder on Mac OS X 10.5.x and move it to the trash (FSMoveObjectToTrashSync()) if possible.

Just curious, could someone comment on the difference between this product and "MenuCracker" which seems to run on my system (istats loads it)?

MenuCracker is open source, and generally doesn't require a separate install by the end-user. (A copy is inside the package of the menu extra you are running.)

works perfect at enabling mumenu but other than that what good is it. mumenu is the only menu extra that needs it. Weatherpop has worked fine since i got panther

That's because WeatherPop is a running application and not a true menu item.
