Fantastic program! This is the first comment I have left on a piece of software. I have well over 3,000 of these images at 1920x1200. I run Fracture through BackLight and I save the output for my wallpaper slideshow. Then occasionally run Fluid through BackLight over the fractals... oh my. I don't know how they could improve Fracture... but I can't wait.

Developer mailed me today about the release of ver. 1.7: "Fracture 1.7 should be compatible with all machines running OS X 10.6, 10.7, or 10.8 (although it does not use Retina displays to their full potential, since I don't have a Retina machine to test with). Apologies for the version 1.6 debacle that bit some of you, and how long it took for me to fix it; I've been working on my PhD, which I just completed a week ago, and that was keeping me too busy to deal with Stick Software stuff."

Version 1.6 doesn't work with Mountain Lion. I hope there's an update, eventually. Still one of my all-time favorite screen savers. I've used it to make so many fantastic and beautiful fractal images -- big ones! More than a screensaver!

At the risk of incurring lots of frowny votes, I'd say that $10 for a screensaver is way past most people's limit...

Glad to see one of my long-time favorites updated for Snow Leopard and Lion! I love this screensaver and have created hudnreds of beautiful fractals images that I've saved and used for desktop images. I consider my $10 very well-spent! Thanks!

Just received an email from the developer that Fracture has been updated to 1.6. Not sure what's new, but the new version no longer supports Leopard or earlier.

I bought this in 2007 for my 17" G4 PB with Tiger 10.4.x. It worked great. Sadly the G4 finally died and I have a early 2011 15" MBP i7 with Lion 10.7.2. All I can say is WOW! It works and sooo fast. The G4 would sometimes a few hours to calculate a complex image. My MPB i7 smokes em out in often under a second. A few have taken up to 10 minutes with external monitors. I'm so impressed. I'd love to buy this again since I doubt I have the code from 2007 laying around. My only concern is that the developer seems to have gone quite since Oct 2009. I'll send an email to support to see If I get a reply. Also please let me know if you've heard from Sticksoftware in the past 2 years. Thanks.

The developer is working on his Phd but does answer his emails. He even helped me locate my old code from 2007. Thanks Stick Software!

Great screensaver, and finally updated Leopard compatibility. If you want a great fractal-generating screensaver, this is where it's at.

Sorry, I stand corrected. You CAN save stills from this screensaver quite easily. I wish the same were true of some other ones... :)

Looks very nice, but my personal limit for a paid screensaver is $5. If this had a standalone version that let you output stills, $10 would be a good price, or $15-20 if it output animation...

You CAN save stills. After you've installed Fracture, go to System Preferences/Screensaver (choose Fracture)/Options/Controls. It tells you how. I've got many incredibly beautiful images saved. I've used Fracture for years. It's well worth the $10.

Oh, hey. I just saw that this was written on my birthday, so this is... umm... fortuitous. I think there's some deeper symbolism in here somewhere...

This blows the mind, man! Real art! After this, you won't want to set your Screensaver to Random any more -- just let Fracture run. In fact, why bother doing any work on the computer? Just drop out, kick back and watch Fracture. Who needs acid? This is like Organic!
