Fracture overview
Fracture is a screensaver that draws fractal images. These are images created from mathematical formulas, and are often very beautiful. It can draw a variety of types of fractals, and is very configurable. It's multiprocessor- and multimonitor-aware, so it's a great way to show off the power of your Mac, too!

Developer mailed me today about the release of ver. 1.7:
"Fracture 1.7 should be compatible with all machines running OS X 10.6, 10.7, or 10.8 (although it does not use Retina displays to their full potential, since I don't have a Retina machine to test with). Apologies for the version 1.6 debacle that bit some of you, and how long it took for me to fix it; I've been working on my PhD, which I just completed a week ago, and that was keeping me too busy to deal with Stick Software stuff."

Version 1.6 doesn't work with Mountain Lion. I hope there's an update, eventually. Still one of my all-time favorite screen savers. I've used it to make so many fantastic and beautiful fractal images -- big ones! More than a screensaver!

At the risk of incurring lots of frowny votes, I'd say that $10 for a screensaver is way past most people's limit...

Glad to see one of my long-time favorites updated for Snow Leopard and Lion! I love this screensaver and have created hudnreds of beautiful fractals images that I've saved and used for desktop images. I consider my $10 very well-spent! Thanks!

Just received an email from the developer that Fracture has been updated to 1.6. Not sure what's new, but the new version no longer supports Leopard or earlier.
