Addressix is an envelope printing utility. It's designed to make printing mailing envelopes quick and easy.

It remembers your print settings, so you don't have to choose Manual Feed each time.

It remembers every address you've used, so you can pick common ones (like your monthly mortgage payment) with a few keystrokes.

And it prints bar codes based on 5 or 9 digit ZIP codes (normally the Post Office has to scan the address to do this -- reducing this step can improve accuracy).
What's New
Version 1.4.10:
  • Fixed crash on quit that affected some people, and quit faster
  • Added "Reverse Page Orientation" preference to work around Apple breaking Carbon print dialogs
  • Updated US postal rates
  • Improved printing of Hungarian addresses
Requirements
PPC, Mac OS X 10.2 or later (Runs fine on Intel Macs, but requires Rosetta, so not compatible with Lion or Mountain Lion.)

No longer runs under Lion since Rosetta is required. Looks like the developer has chosen to just let this fine app die. Fortunately, there are free alternatives.

I bought Addressix when it came out on the reputation of the developer, who had written one of the best basic outliners for the Mac in the 80s (Acta, later renamed Dnyo Notepad) then updated it as the native app Opal. (Which I also bought.) I thought Addressix was a decent and useful app at the time, especially since Apple's Address Book would not initially print envelopes in OS X.

But now (A) Address Book DOES print envelopes [ http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=addressbook/4.0/en/ad1063.html ] (B) free apps like Easy Envelopes do the same thing Addressix does and (C) the Addressix developer has abandoned the app to the Rosetta ghetto (many people, like me, aren't interested in installing Rosetta).

Sorry, but at this point the developer is doing a disservice. If you refuse to spend the time to update an 8-year-old app (that has free competition) to run natively then you shouldn't be charging for it. Anyone who buys Addressix now is doing so just because they don't know about the free alternatives.

I am so sad. Addressix 1.4.9 will not work with Mac OS 10.6.1.

Have you more detail to add? I am not having problems with 10.6.2.

Perhaps if you uninstall and reinstall...

Please contact us directly for support, this isn't a site we typically monitor!

Addressix runs fine for most people on 10.6 (assuming you have Rosetta installed).

And we just released an update to make it run even better.

It's 2010.

If you're going to release updated or new software and expect people to pay to use it, you need to release it native to Intel.

There are many, including myself, users who choose not to install Rosetta to run dated applications.

Just something to consider.

Like others, I found this to be a very nice app, getting a bit old in the tooth, but still nice.

Apparently, Snow Leopard, does not install Rosetta by default. One must choose the custom install and then proceed.

Addressix is the last app that I have that was writtren for PPC, and thus, when installing Snow Leopard, I will move forward and switch to a different address app rather than installing Rosetta just for this app.

Indeed I enjoyed the ride, but it is coming to an end...

A lovely application I've used and enjoyed for years. However, there have been no updates for quite some time. And their website isn't answering up. :-( A Sharp, LLC is currently residing in the "Where are they now?" file. Does anyone know anything?

Would like an option to add a graphic to the front of the envelope. An Airmail Label for instance.

I've been using the program since day 1. It's small, does it's job, and does it well. Integration with Address Book is good. Printed envelopes look outstanding.

Addressix is the easiest form addressing program I have used and it is great how they continue to improve it and correct small problems as they develop. Highly recommend it to any Mac user.

I like this app a lot, but two limitations make it unusable for me.

1.) Font defaults to Helvetica every time launched, even in saved addressses.

2.) I can print once, then Canon i560 printer will not respond unless I restart application. Then of course, I'm back to Helvetica :-(

What font are you using? You might try switching to a similar font.

And if there are driver-specific problems, try Page Setup and File > Print.
