OK, but a bit buggy, a bit old, and there are better options. At least for me.

I tried a couple of different apps and found DragThing a much better, more flexible, easy to use and stable approach. The only thing it didn't have was a menu bar drop down, but I solved that by adding the free app FinderPop, which is much faster than DockExtender's menu bar item.

There's much that's good about DockExtender, but problems like hot keys seeming to be broken in Tiger, lost icons, etc. are very annoying, especially on an app that costs $20. I'll put up with the occasional bug in freeware.

On paid apps, I expect updates to keep improving the product, and keep it functioning at full capacity. I don't like that they haven't updated this product in 2.5 years.

Also, the free trial is so limited that there's no way to really judge the app. So I paid the $20, only to find I used it less and less in favor of other products.

needs a definite update for Tiger, most things work just fine, but the dock switching submenus don't, so basically its just an extra menu launcher and a dock launcher which is very useful, but the MultiDock configurations don't work atm. :( update! update!

Works pretty well and its speed has improved greatly in recent versions.

One BIG problem is in Panther I am constantly losing custon icons in the dock and have to reselect them in DockExtender. It isn't all the time and it isn't always the same icon. It only happens to the custom icons in the dock and only when I start my Mac up.

I agree with x9. It doesn't mess anything around, you can adjust very easily its behavior. Can't remember the number of applications I bought for having a "usable" dock. Now this one seems to do what it promises without being too much obtrusive. However, some appearance betterments wold be welcome: ability to change icon of individual items, toggling individual items icons on/off, changing the font/font size.
A weakness (CodeTek Studios, please do something): is it english only? The point is that it changes the name of applications/folders/items to their respective english name, and not always you can change that back to your language (see system prefernces, for one).

I love this app. I really don't know what you're talking about, LaLa, because I've used this product for almost a year, and every update makes it just THAT much better.

I've never seen this app mess with my dock and put things where "it thinks is best," It's pretty customizable and it allows you to place multiple items under one icon, and even to arrange them how you want (I.E. categories, like Art:Web or Art:Photo, etc.).

I think this app COULD run a little smoother, but then again, it does what it says very well.

Not so hot. Assumes you have never made any changes to your doc nor have you move or removed any basic OSX applications. If you have, for get it, this application will mess you up royal. And after you fixed the mess that the installation made of your doc, it then continues to modify the dock in ways it believe are best. Ugh, if I want software telling me it knows better than I do what I want I would have bought a micro$oft product.

Excellent app. Allows organization of all my apps, utilities, etc. in just a few doc items, with customizeable icons for quick and easy access. I can quickly access just about everything I need from the dock. I recommend this to everyone.
