I never got a chance to try the product because I never received a valid unlock code. Emailed support for one week and gave up. These guys are a little too flaky for me. Hope others have a better experience.

So heres the real question since they didnt mean to scam anyone.....the site is down those of us who purchased the software when ever we get a new machine are screwed, due to the way the activation system works. Since when ever you change anything on your system you need a new activation code, i requested to be informed the location of the activation file on the machine and was never supplied such information. Perhaps a class action law suite against the developers will kick them back into gear. Cause guess what if you sell software into the US the sale of that software is bound by US laws.

I purchased MacAnalysis just before Christmas, and it was a painful epic to final get the activation code I needed to get it running - the process was unacceptable. Now, I lost a filevault password and MacAnaysis as well as my activation code are buried in my encrypted home folder. I tried to contact Lagoon to send my activation code again, but now the site is blank and it is impossible to contact them. I am sick and tired of this company with its air of fraud, secrecy, and simple lack of basic respect. Anybody know how the activation codes are generated from the machine id? GET NESSUS and send Lagoon straight to internet hell.

I've never had trouble with them (I paid and got my serial years ago)... but this is getting a little freaky now. They've always seemed to have weird verbiage on the website, but I thought that might be from a language barrier or an inside joke hacker speak thing.. I dunno.. probably just a language barrier? But this "warning" on their download page has gotten pretty bizarre even with a language barrier: Important note MacAnalysis pretends to be a powerful weapon, probably the most ever created on every plateforms. It's why we're asking you to use MacAnalysis rigorously, thus do not scan servers that you don't own and do not allow childrens or teenagers to launch MacAnalysis. The silly "don't allow teens" to use this note makes me a bit nervous about their professionalism. Couple this with the current troubles I'm hearing about here I'm now kind of nervous about running their software anymore. I noticed that VersionTracker has pulled them off entirely without any info. Thank you Macupdate for leaving them on here so we can see what's going on with them. They really need to put something on their website that explains the situation instead of "you can't buy this anymore".

The goal of Macanalysis has never been to scam anybody : thousands of customers and fellow users can testify on this matter. We weren't prepared to the overwhelming success of MacAnalysis and thus we could not always reach the high standard of quality we always aimed at, leading to sporadic e-mail delays. As a consequence, we decided to stop welcoming new customers, the payment section on our website was deliberately closed until we have a new structure in place that can properly support our customers who shouldn't have to bear those unacceptable issues. We wish to thank all those who trusted us during the amazing adventure that took place over the last four years.

quote: "We weren't prepared to the overwhelming success of MacAnalysis" Funny, or you weren't prepared for what seems to be overwhelming success of the public exposing your unethical business practices that so many of the users have reported on many of the Mac sites.

I'd live to give a positive review, but I too have not received my serial number. I used their ridiculas activation system, and did not get my serial number. This so called activation system doesn't give you a second or third try for that matter -- it mearly tells you that you already received your serial number. They do not return emails and there's no way of contacting them by telephone. This company is by far the worst excuse for a software security -- it's kind of ironic that a security developer is commiting fraud anbd getting away with it.

Perhaps someone can tell me how long I should wait before asking VISA to start a fraud investigation against Lagoon. MacAnalysis refuses to answer my emails. I paid my money and I want my serial number. Although it's the last thing I need right now, I am on the verge of going ballistic on this. Or maybe somebody from Lagoon checks this forum more frequently than their inbox.

Lo and behold, after I posted this and after a stern email to Lagoon, they responded! Cheers. Squeaky Wheel

That's good that you got a response. Did they settle matters with your credit card?

MacAnalysis is an extraordinary internet utility, but it has two major 'undocumented features'. You can't save anything, like settings, permitted IP addresses or firewall keywords to keep hackers from accessing your files, and have reenter all settings with each startup. The documentation is weak to non-existent. But if you have ever had your Mac hacked into, or would rather forego that experience, MacAnalysis is a must have utility. And there is nothing like catching in real time a hacker, trojan, worm or thousands of other malicious exploits, and then being able to counterattack in real time. Score one for the good guys! It is constantly updated virtually everyday.

odd... the ReadMe that is included in the download indeed states that this is version 2.3.1, but if you issue a GetInfo against the application, it states that this version was last modified on April 21, 2003 what is up with that? and no version history included in the download nor is it available anywhere on the developer's website. hmm.

Wow! This thing is without competition! Everything you might need/want in a network security auditing tool is there - and a lot more! Packed with features above features it might be a bit confusing at first, but I guess after some time it's ok. The demo mode is far too short to really get to know the app. It quits after a couple of minutes. Registration is complicated. After purchasing, you don't automatically get a registration code. You have to run the app and have it create a machine key (hardware ID of your Mac) that you have to email to the author to receive your registration key. This seems to take longer than necessary (I waited more than 24h so far). An email request I made one day before I bought a license still has not been answered.
