PageSucker is probably the best software for copying websites on local disk. I have been missing it due to incompatibilities with the JVM. I don't know why, it is now working again with the latest Java update on 10.6.6. And I was lucky enough to still have the registration key somewhere. Using PageSucker I can make a copy of complex sites when all other similar applications (Windows, too) fail. It is a pity the developer ceased developing and supporting it.

Not compatible with Intel/Leopard/SnowLeopard. Very sad.

SiteSucker is an excellent alternate.

hmmm, didn't work at first but...I noticed that the inside the package contents is a file called "JavaApplicationStub." I just replaced that with the one from Azureus and Viola! 10 threads open with over 400 Kb/s per sec. Running like a banshee on my MacBook!

The "replace the JavaApplicationStub with a newer copy from Azureus" plan worked perfectly!!!

I think I might have the same problem as the French poster below, if I've understood the French correctly. The program always worked splendidly for me, but since upgrading to OS 10.3, it downloads a bit and then hangs with a spinning beachball. I need to force quit, and am left with a partial download and a lot of temporary files.

Exactly the same with me it was working wonderfully and would do everything just right and now after running for about an hour it completely freezes up.

I have tested several tools for downloading website and tested them on the same, rather heavy website.

After that testing (which involved four or five of the available website downloaders for Mac), there is no doubt that PageSucker is the best, despite the fact that it has apparently not been updated for some time. True, there are some tools with more attractive, modern design - but none of them seems to do the job as well as PageSucker.

Not only does it download a website efficiently: but - and this is important – it renders the pages exactly like the originals, linking them locally without any trouble, and one can then easily see the downloaded website's content and surf from page to page offline. None of the other tools did it as well as PageSucker.

In addition, it offers a wide selection of filters based on different formats, although I had no opportunity to test them, since I needed to downoad entire websites.

Finally, it did the job rather faster than some of the other tools which I tested.

Conclusion: as long as no other, better tools comes on the market, I will use PageSucker. And I hope that its developer will consider continuing working on it, it is really worth its (small) price.

I LOVE this application! Have used it now for over a year and it rarely ever fails to beat any other program I know of - and I think I've pretty much have tried them all! (I'm using it right now and just felt the need to tell someone how cool it is, stilll amazed at how fast and easy it is!) I HIGHLY recommend it! But you really do need to fork over the meger $10 for registration to turn it alive!
5 STARS ALL THE WAY!

It doesn't look like this app is any longer in development. The developer's web site hasn't been updated since 2003.

Like others, PageSucker stalls on me...

Can anyone suggest a replacement just as great as PS used to be?

Many thanks

PageSucker is by far the best application for downloading entire websites. I bought a licence a few years ago and I think its value is much more than its licence fee.

However now it has serious problems and almost every time I use it, it freezes. I imagine his is due to changes in Java (the problems are the same on Mac or on Windows).

Is there any chance that a new version will be released in the future? I am ready to pay a new shareware fee, even higher than the original one, and I am sure most people having used it will agree with me.
