Wow, SweetMail looks like a blast from the OS 9 past. It hasn't been updated in years and doesn't have the functionality (STARTTLS for one) to work with gmail. It would be nice to see a Cocoa version someday, as it is I cannot do a thing with it.

downloaded to try. Very interesting concept. I actually like it. But it feels kind unfinished, when comparing to today's email clients. Similar to Unibox in some way, but again, something is lacking. Description says messages can be sorted in different ways. Doesn't work. What is 'Thread' on the toolbar ? Clicked but does nothing.

correction to my previous review. It does sort by date, subject and From. It didn't sort immediately after I installed it, took time to scan my email I like it. It's lightweight, fast and easy on eyes. If you wish to see the whole message, double click to open it. Otherwise I really prefer not to see all millions of images and other crap in every email. FIVE STARS.

I have been using this app since the 90's, and I haven't found anything that makes me want to switch. Admittedly, I don't use public mail servers and have no need to synch to them, but this app has allowed me to customize every aspect of my mail server to app that matters. I have never found anything that allows me to manage my mail any better. The only real shortage is the lack of html view, but that stops pages from automatically loading and logging personal info by spammers, and browser access is easy when desired, so that is a plus for me. It's not for nubes, but for those who want full mail control, it's a sweet match.

An Intel-only version (dated 10-Sep-2011) can be downloaded from http://www.namera.jp/sweetmail/Welcome.html The GUI hasn't changed but it's still very very fast!

Unintuitive interface. Can't make this work with Mac OS 10.5.7 and Gmail. No way I can find to change the ports with which to pop or smtp mail.

SUGIURA: Anymore news? Any progress? SweetMail still works fine with POP. A trick I have used is to map MailServe to my various accounts and create a one-stop mail clearing house. SweetMail can talk directly to a local storage point on your machine. Works great!

(8/5/2008, Version: 2.2r6) ---------------- Type: Developer Author: SUGIURA I'm writing codes to convert endian between PowerPC and Intel. It's may be not so difficult. I know how to make it. Still works a treat in Leopard. Love the fact that it DOESN'T do html mail - a double-click sends the html to my offline browser, where I can read the text, inspect the source code and, if necessary (rarely), reload it in online mode. Maybe it's time for me to drop it, but I don't see any reason why I should.

I agree, HTML mail is a pain. The author just responded to my (previous) comment and says he is trying to find the time to work on an Intel version.
