On the B&W: Download the Updater.zip, unzip, doubleclick the installer.pkg and let it install the Firmware Installer and Firmware Remover.apps in Applications.

Shut down the computer.

Then pushing in the _Programmer's button_ below the Power On button on the front of the B&W (you will need something sharp to push it in), power on the B&W. Continue to hold the Programmer's button until the tone stops, approximately 5 seconds. Let the computer continue to power on as normal.

Open Applications, find the Sonnet Firmware Updater and doubleclick to open. Click OK and let it do its thing.

You should not receive a message saying that it is unable to access the ROM.

I am running a Rev 1 300MHz G3 B&W - trying to upgrade using the Sonnet G4 1GHz ZIF card - on OS 9.2.2 - with the Radeon 7000 video card (64MB) - I'm getting the error message when I try to run the firmware update to disable the G4 issue on G# B&Ws-started with Sonnet's 3.1 for OS 9 - came here because was suggested to run v 3.1 for OS 10 if you get the "failed in FirmwareUpdater.c,line 221" message - after download of v3.1 for OS 10, won't load because running OS 9 - do I have to load OS 10 before I can move ahead with this and put in the G4 processor upgrade?

On a Crescendo PCI G3-450 in a 9500 w/ 1GB RAM this update stopped the annoying little memory leak introduced in 2.0.5.
