IPNetShareX is a small program designed to give users graphical access to Mac OS X's Network Address Translation (NAT) services without having to use the command line. NAT is a protocol used to share a single Internet connection among multiple computers without requiring a dedicated hardware router. IPNetShareX can be used as an alternative to the basic Internet sharing feature of IPNetRouter.

IPNetShareX uses unix "natd" and "ipfw". It does not provide full access to the TCP/IP configuration of the machine or other advanced features such as a built-in DHCP server.

I've been using NetShare since last September without any problem. G3 minitower/G4, 10.2.6. Just great
You need a bit of tweeking if using the built-in card for the LAN, but that is not NetShare's fault.

I've used IPNetShare for approx. 6 months on a dedicated computer without rebooting the machine or restarting the program. I have a subnet of 12 computers accessing the internet via this machine. Of course, mounting machines on the subnet from the outside is not possible, but the opposite direction works fine. Email, web browsing, ftp, etc. works great.

I have used IPNetShareX 1.0b2 since I added an iBook with an Airport card to share my cable internet connection with a G4 733 Quicksilver. Getting all the IP addresses straight, including the IP address assigned by my ISP (I had to go into OS 9 to get that) was not easy, but IPNetShare has worked very well since January, 2002. Occasionally, I have to rename my network to get everything working, but I don't know that this is the fault of IPNetShare. Excellent work since Apple abandoned software base stations in OSX. Without it, I would have been forced to buy an unecessary router.
