PodMaster 1000 is a small iPod utility for viewing the songs on an iPod. Also displays some of the ID3 tag information, plays selected songs and can transfer them from the iPod to alternative media. This is most handy if you own computers in different locations.
What's new in PodMaster 1000
Version 1.0d cleans up some cosmetic problems. Removed inital sorting by song title because of 20Gb iPods. It can take several minutes to sort a full 20Gb iPod. Fixed an artificial 1300 song limit on transfers left over from the days of 5Gb iPods. Able to handle 10,000 songs now which should work with up to 60Gb iPods.
I am a Windows user. Does this software work on a windows machine or just the Mac's. I didn't see anything that told me that it would work on a windows operating system.
PodMaster works fine with Panther. HOWEVER, every once and a while it will lock up on the transfer. This happens rarely, but it does happen. If you try to force quit, it won't. I even tried to kill the process in the Terminal and it wouldn't. Maybe a bug.
I have Panther and I just downloaded Podmaster 1000 V1.0d. I previously had PodMaster 1000 ss9.9. I keep getting the "unexpectedly quit" error with both versions. Are there any versions out there that work with Panther?
I have now waited 40 minutes for it to probe my iPod. I have a 40 Gig one with about 3300 songs. Is this normal? Because this would make it almost unuseable.
I tried iPod Viewer but it could not see my MP4's (AAC)
i exported all my songs from my ipod to my computer but podmaster didnt transfer all the music. podmaster exported the music with the folder but with no music inside. is that right? can you help me out with this problem?
PodMaster 1000 V1.0d outstanding on my 5gig iPod, Not (grrrrrr) on my 20 gig, So where can I get firmware version 1.1 or do I need 1.1
really dont want to lose some of my mp3's. Also on my 5gig I installed OS X server and works fine! Dont have to haul around my g4 powerbook. I can install OS X server on my 20 but using it as a "blessed disk" forget it. Got any ideas? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,jeff
I have the 30 gig. iPod.... It seems that it takes awhile to show the songs....I think it is because I updated the firmware on the iPod....Other than reseting the iPod(loosing all the music) can I restore original firmware? Is a new version on its way? Did I have to pay(which I will once it works) before it works?
This is a great program. My only criticism is that I wish the screen was larger. I don't think that it needs to be limited to the physical size of the iPod. It would be nice if it were about twice the size that it is. However, that will not keep me from paying the shareware fee.I rated it a "3" in Ease of Use only because of the small screen.
i have a 20 gb i pod, infact i have two of them. i through an i pod party in savannah ga on thursday nights. i made a mistake by trashing my music file and i tunes does not want to play any of my music. i want to take what is in the ipod and put it back into i tunes. does pod master do that, help

Via the developer: Podmaster will fail when trying to access one of the new iPods.
PodMaster only supports iPod Firmware up to version 1.1.
I do not have one of the new units yet to test PodMaster but the data
structure is entirely different. My belief is that PodMaster will vanish in
a puff of smoke and cause no harm, since it only reads and does not write,
but definitely will not work with the new firmware.
If I survive, by the time Jaguar hits the streets I may have decoded the new
database structure. Updates will be free.
So, if you are one of the lucky folks on this planet to have a 20GB iPod do
not run PodMaster on it.
This a great and essential utility. I had to do a clean install, losing 756 songs from iTunes. I tried using the terminal to manually copy the files from the iPod Volume, but this crashed about 10% of the way through. I tried PodMaster software next, and it worked like a charm, and maintained artists folders (unlike the manual cp in unix terminal) This app worked for me using both UFS and HFS+. I highly recommend it!
