Sweet MIDI Player overview

Sweet MIDI Player is a MIDI player for not only auditioning all types of MIDI files, but for modifying the MIDI files themselves. Use its mixer-like interface to easily edit the control messages, transpose the music, change the tempo, mute desired MIDI channels, and save the end results to disk. It also includes a Jukebox function which allows you to create playlists with up to 99 songs. A Classic version is also available.

Cannot rate it as it will not run with Catalina (10.15), so NOT impressed.
I wanted to try it out as shareware, because I only need a simple MIDI player (for now).
There has been more than ample time to recompile it by now, as Apple released Catalina almost a year ago, and the developer support long before that. I certainly won't be paying for this app in the foreseeable future!

This is a great little app for simply playing MIDI and making quick changes to tempo, instruments, etc. My only qualm is the price. $25 is too much for a simple player / editor, and I think its strength is as a SIMPLE editor. The UI is fine for what I need to do. I'd say to put it on MUPromo with a 60-80% discount and sell a whack of them. For $10 or less it would be a no-brainer.

This application is getting a bad rap because some people are scumbags and try to use tricks to circumvent the limitations of the shareware version. This application does exactly what it says it does, my only complaint is that I can't actually edit the MIDI data itself. It is a VERY nice way to make modifications to MIDI ringtones to make them more to your liking - if you have a lot of channels you can mix it up and spit it out to another MIDI file (presumably - I can't save files in the demo version). I think it would come in handy for people who need a good way to tweak a MIDI file, but a bad choice for someone that wants that AND the ability to actually edit the melodies themselves. I'd rate it a 3, which isn't fair - my lower rating is because: a) I think the UI is ugly. b) It "needs more cowbell".

$25 for this? I mean, it's useful, but way too expensive for what it is. As far as I'm concerned, its price grants it just one star, as price counts when one comes down to shareware.

Sweet MIDI left a sour taste in my mouth. No progress bar, very little in the way of good OSX interface usage, heaps of infantile commentry boxes with countdowns of seconds?? Sorry, can't see many sales. Richard G

Nice app, but entirely too expensive. $25 to play MIDI files? Sorry; I don't think so. People might pirate it less if the price were more reasonable!

Please do not try out the software with a pirated password. It may work with other software but not with this one. Three out of the four reviewers below does that and the results is that the program stops responding to mouse clicks etc. This is intentional and is our way to prevent people from stealing our software. Sweet Midi is a very smooth program. It requires very little, yet does enough to use for performances.
