Zero Loss Compress overview

Zero Loss Compress helps users manage large image libraries by saving disk space without sacrificing quality or access to original files. Using JPEG XL, a modern and fully reversible image format, the app provides up to 20% additional compression compared to standard JPEGs while preserving the ability to restore the original files without any loss of quality.

Key Features
  • Reversible Compression: Safely convert JPEGs to JPEG XL and revert to the original format whenever needed, ensuring no data is lost.
  • Efficient Storage: Save significant disk space while maintaining the integrity of your image library.
  • One-Click Conversion: Effortlessly optimize your photo collection with automatic bit-by-bit verification for accuracy.
  • Unlike lossy solutions, Zero Loss Compress is tailored for long-term photo storage, making it an ideal choice for photographers and anyone managing extensive image collections.

What’s new in version 1.5.0

  • Enhanced user interface for improved clarity and ease of use.
  • We have added the ability to retain original files alongside converted files, eliminating the need to convert back if the originals are still required.
  • Introduced an option to specify an output directory, giving you full control over where your converted files are saved.

Zero Loss Compress makes use of an open source image format, JPEG XL. The format has been formally developing since 2018 and remains somewhat sp**** in its support. Google's software currently offers no support. However, there is an extension available for use with Chromium derivatives. Apple offers full support. Firefox is currently testing support. Wikipedia offers an excellent description of JPEG XL. The direct URL to the app developer is: EditingTools.io
