Proton Mail overview

Keep your conversations private with Proton Mail, an encrypted email service based in Switzerland.

Features:
  • End-to-end encryption - Proton Mail is a private email service that uses open source, independently audited end-to-end encryption and zero-access encryption to secure your communications. This protects against data breaches and ensures no one (not even Proton) can access your inbox. Only you can read your messages.
  • Free private email - Everyone has the right to privacy, which is why we make Proton Mail available for free. You can upgrade to a paid account to access more features and support our fight for a better internet.
  • Your data, your rules - Proton Mail is an encrypted email service that respects privacy and puts people (not advertisers) first. Your data belongs to you, and our encryption ensures that.
  • Swiss privacy - Proton is incorporated and headquartered in Switzerland. This means all your data is protected by strict Swiss privacy laws and Swiss neutrality.

Proton Mail comes in four service levels: Free, Plus, Duo and Unlimited. Compare the plans.

I've done a back and forth and back and forth with Proton about why they delay automatically updating their software. At the moment, I have v1.2.4 installed, and that's because of MU knowing about it as an update. Now 1.3.2 is out. It's two full weeks since it was released, and no automatic update has happened. As a computer security specialist, I'm concerned. For the third time I've suggested to get them to pay attention to the problem. Whether they'll ever get the point, beats me.
