Tropico... You, the newly installed dictator of an obscure Caribbean island, must create a life of prosperity and happiness for your people. Build farms to feed them, tenements to house them, pubs to lift their spirits and churches to save their souls. Follow a socialist path of factories, mines, logging and fishing, or chase capitalist dollars by building resorts to lure Yanqui tourists. Success will bring the praise of your people along with a fat Swiss bank account. Failure? Well, there's always martial law.

This game was great and I meand GREAT! It ran just fine for me and I recommend it to everyone. Please make sure to play this on a Mac OS 10 or higher. Also keep in mind that the game will slow down and probably crash when you get closer.

Also most people complain about the music but I like it. I found a way to use my iTunes music instead though. ;-)

Tropico sucks. The game slows down to a hairpulling crawl after a certain amount of inhabitants so you really can't play forever. The game aborts once you lose power and you have to start over. I want a FU to the populace button. Not having one is too frustrating. If a hurricane hits you can lose everything and have to start over. This is frustrating but I guess Tsunami happens so that's not too unrealistic. Also I can't zoom in close enough for my taste. Mostly I hate it because developers are no longer upgrading. Why buy a defunct back of the shelf game.

Unless you got a broadband connection and willing to wait, you might as well get it in CD form.

The demo only allows you to run the tutorial scenario for only 50 years. You can't run the random game mode or the scenarios mode. Some buildings like sports arenas, cathedrals, airport, and so on are not avaiable in the demo.

Anyway. I run it in Mac OS 10.2.6 om 1GHz iMac, it run fine. Though when changing the zoom, rotating, and especially when you got a lot of people an d buildings, things does kinda slow down.
