Overview

Old Glory is a screensaver of the U.S. flag.

What's new in Old Glory for OSX

Version 1.3: Old Glory is now a Universal Binary. I have tested it on Power PC and Intel running Mac OS X 10.4.7 Tiger. I have also tested it on a Power PC running Mac OS X 10.3.9 Panther. If you have trouble with it on older operating systems, you might try running an older version, available at http://homepage.mac.com/mtrent .

All it stands for? Such as the rich getting richer while the poor eat macaroni and send their kids to schools that can barely afford to stay open? Or how about the perversion of civil liberties under the "Patriot Act"? I left the USA, never to return, two years ago. Now, I no longer worry that I might be a victim of some random act of terrorism, my cost of living has been reduced by 50%, I never have to deal with winter anymore, I can do something as simple as walking down the street while drinking a beer without fear of being harassed by some bored cop... and best of all, I am not surrounded by reactionary pinheads. Travelling abroad, one learns rather quickly that a large part of the world's population has no illusions about the power of the USA and its propensity, since WWII, for wielding its foreign policy like an axe.

If you're annoyed by American Imperialism, you can easily replace the flag with another. Here's how: • Right-click on the "Old Glory.saver" file, and navigate to Contents/Resources. You should see a file named "OldGlory.tiff". Rename it to "Americarnage.tiff". • Now pop over to the CIA World Factbook, select the country (e.g. Iraq), go to the enlarged view of the flag, and download it. Open it in your favourite image editor. • Scale the Iraqi flag to 1024 pixels wide. • Now adjust the canvas size so it becomes square, without changing the aspect ratio of the image detail. • Save the image as "OldGlory.tiff" to your Desktop. Supplant the American flag with the Iraqi flag. • Enjoy your new Iraqi flag screen saver. • Come back to this site later to enjoy the enraged comments of Christian extremists!

A cute little Screensaver, if you're into that sort of thing. Lacking a lot in the realm of textures, this screensaver is OK if you're not already sick of american patriotism like I am. I suggest RedPill myself, but it's a matter of taste.

Scottay and Brenda - thank you for your comments. Annonymous: you have evidently never read Thomas Jefferson's treatise on framing the Constitution. The separation of church and state envisioned by the Founding Fathers was NOT to keep God out of our daily lives and government. It was simply to avoid the "Church of England" situation, where the State financed and controlled the church. If you read any of their peripheral writings, they never imagined the way those intentions would be twisted and misconstrued by present-day liberals.

Brenda: Great Comments. Unfortunately the previous reviewers do not know USA's true history. 70% of the Founding Fathers of the GREAT Constitution were not only Christains, but were Pastors with Doctorates in Biblical Theology. The idea was to give FREEDOM to WORSHIP your GOD (any faith) any way you like, without being penalized. Not the other way around, to keep people of faith downtrodden.

"70% of the Founding Fathers of the GREAT Constitution were not only Christains, but were Pastors with Doctorates in Biblical Theology." That is a total lie. It could not be further from the truth. Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, and other luminaries we call 'Founding Fathers' had no such affiliation whatsoever. I would doubt that there were more than a handful of the so-called Founding Fathers that had such religious affiliations and stations. I challenge anyone to provide evidence, some proof, of your utterly absurd claim which I quoted above. Your intellectual dishonesty is disgusting.

To Brenda Harlow (below) : one of the things that made the USA great is the fact that the founding fathers KEPT GOD OUT OF THE CONSTITUTION. You want religion and government together, go to Iran!

My favourite anthem is anything that does NOT include stars and stripes. God (yeah, right) save us all from the imperialistic America, sweeping all across the globe.
