Is there a way to stream audio from an external input (probably from my 9600), or do I need another app to do this? I'd love to go open-source if possible.

Audion is not open source but it is now free software. Available in OS 8/9 and OS X. Audion can stream and play most popular file types. Panic.com
I use Nicecast, but it costs $40, but the features make it worth it though and of course tech support if you need it.

Great app! Runs fine on a 7600 that is also serving as an 9.1/6.3 ASIP server that gets hit pretty hard.

xStream will kick out MP3s to iTunes fine. Winamp support isn't there yet, but pending I am told. The ability to add folders of MP3s to the play list instead of adding them one at a time will be welcomed.

Bottom line... Works for iTunes, is free , will run on older PPC Macs, and is stable.
