Does not open in 10.6. I used this for many years as my favourite SQL Console but now it's officially Abandonware!

SQL4X/J is the only reasonable multi-database application for OS X.

The main problem is support. While they promise to provide a status within 48 hours, this does not happen (is licensed).

Will crash while trying to export a report for once. The sql console has a shotcut that conflicts with a menu.
And others.

Still conditionally recommended, partly for lack of (better) alternative.

For what it is worth, Aqua Data Studio seems to be able generate the ER diagrams that SQL4X manager failed for me with.

Haven't tested other things yet.

See http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/10963 for more information.

This entire company makes incredible products. The way I like to define their abilities is that "they get it!" This product works like a charm and has helped me out of a tight place in a couple of instances. You download it, install the proper driver, and it works! Make sure to check out their other products, I use all their software to manage every MySQL database installation I've got.

I have had SQL4X Manager J Enterprise Edition for a couple weeks now and am very pleased. Having the ability to work on all my databases (Oracle, MS SQL and MySQL) from one interface is an incredible productivity enhancement.

The graphical Database navigator, IMO, is the weakest link. In fact I hate it. I have a difficult time using it to add or modify records. Fortunately, I am an SQL junkie so that is not a problem for me because the SQL console works great. It would be nice if the navigator could also open your default database when when logging on to a database server like when you use the console.

I've used the Import Utility several times and each time I got less than perfect results. Again, this is an area where using the Console is preferred.

All in all, I don't think there is any software for the Mac quite like this and despite my grumblings, I quite like SQL4X Manager J.

Loved this software. Compared several but this has the spit and polish of a quality piece on top of a very functional application. Bought it pretty quickly.

Had this up an running in no-time and pulling data from SQL Server 2000. Like it better than Microsoft's Enterprise Manager / SQL Analyser!

Small bug report was very promptly handled acknowledged; fixed for update within a week.

These guys are happy to earn your money and hear from their customers. In my experience, they offer a reliable package - easy to setup and use - that fits it's purpose very well while making your non-OS X pals envious.

Glad this is the one I bought.

This tool is easy to set up and use. The documentation is available online at http://help.macosguru.de/sql4xj and the support responded fast and helped me with my not-that-common issues, like connecting to MySQL over an SSL connection. It's the most powerful database tool I have seen for Mac OS X yet and the integrated MySQL/PHP code generator works well for me, too (I am using SQL4X Manager J Enterprise Edition). If a had a wish I would like to see to code generator working for other databases (especially PostgreSQL), too.

I have been working with this for several days now, and am also comparing it to MacSQL. Without documentation, yes it does tend to get a little confusing, and with the several different versions available from www.macosguru.com, it can be confusing what to use.

After downloading the WebDevelopers version, I had used their base tutorial/walkthrough to set up a sample MySQL DB of my own. The price of the product has seemed to have gone up over the past few months, which can and may scare customers away. especially considering the extras for the extra money are freebies elsewhere (PHP4) (Apache). What they are selling is an easy to use GUI based installation and management system that takes the daunting task of setting up a database driven site, reducing it to a minimum.

Great Assistant to set up MySQL. It took me seconds to install my first database without a manual. The GUI to access and administer MySQL is also very easy to use. Great work!

The package is great. Installation took me five minutes (including printing and reading the "Before Installation" document)...
The Admin GUI lets you control the most commom situations with MySQL - starting and stopping the server, viewing tables, creating tables and databases, etc.
I think it's a real good package with a mac os touch when it comes to look and feel - no boring terminals needed.
