fman overview

fman is a modern file manager for power users--beautiful, fast, and extensible.

  • GoTo on Steroids - Press ⌘P to quickly jump to a directory. fman remembers which folders you visit most often and suggests them first. This is so much quicker than manually navigating through directory hierarchies.
  • Plugins - Completely tailor fman to your needs via its powerful plugin system. Install plugins created by others – or write your own and share them with the community.
  • Actively Developed - Launched in 2016, fman is under very active development. We're committed to developing it for years. If progress ever stalls, fman's open source promise guarantees that you will never be locked into an unmaintained platform.

fman is currently hyped on Product Hunt and other websites, so I decided to give it a try. The dev seems like a really nice guy, the fman website and blog are really nice. One thing I like immediately liked about fman: it introduced Sublime Text's Command Pallette and Go To function to dual file managers. Thumbs up for innovation! After a month or so of usage, here are my 2 cents. To sum it up, fman is (at least in its current version 0.6.4) far from being a TC replacement for Mac. It's just not ready and I can't believe people are paying money for it right now. I am a developer myself and this software is in beta stage at best. Many, many things are still missing. I'm keeping an eye on the development.

Currently it looks like there were only 100 licenses available to purchase and they have all been purchased. So if you want to buy it, as of today, you can't. :/
