- Instancing Lab - Enjoy true instancing with items that auto-follow the terrain. Create copies of individual objects, or entire sets so as to create huge forests and rock gardens quickly and without the typical memory usage and overhead. Change the distribution and randomness by controlling the scale, density, and proportion of your selected objects.
- Improved Light Lab - New distant, spotlight, parallel, cluster, dome and 3D fill lights are available along with settings for specularity and diffuse intensity. Also includes optimized true ambience, lens flare, and cast shadow intensity settings.
- Sky Lab Improvements - Use the sky as a light source, add a specular map to your IBL, control shadow softness, background DOF, transparency controls, tone-map, and the ability to create and export your own HDR Images. Also includes new controls over cloud settings.
- Particle Emitter - Create animated particles from sphere objects with control over size, gravity, and max particles.
- DAZ Studio Bridge - Create seamless productions of environments populated with human figures, animals and other characters imported from DAZ Studio.
- Improved Import/Export - Now you can import and export FBX and COLLADA date files, including the import of Google SketchUp models or Spore™ creatures.

I used to love this program back in the day. The fact that nearly 5 years on DAZ still hasn't updated it to work on OS X 10.7 and above just sucks. I would gladly pay $20 for a version that would work on El Capitan. Sadly, I don't think that day will ever come.

Don't waste your money buying this program. It doesn't run on any recent OSX Version and the current owner (DAZ) hasn't upgraded it in over three years and it doesn't look like there will be any in the foreseeable future (unless they sell it to someone who actually has an interest in this program).
Bryce is an excellent program with a user interface that is still lightyears ahead of any other 3d software (thanks to Kay Krause!) Why DAZ hasn't done anything to keep it running on the current OSX is beyond me. It looks like they only bought it to silence the competition.
Can you imagine what it would be to run Bryce on the 'Coke Can' Mac Pro? Awesome!

Apart from the FREE Bryce Personal Learning Edition (see the link kindly commented below), there is 'Bryce 7 Pro' for $19.95 here:

It works ONLY through OS X 10.6.8. It is NOT for 10.7 or 10.8, apparently meaning that it requires Rosetta, thereby being a PowerPC CPU version. If you can work with the hardware and OS constraints, that's a nice price.

My desktop MacUpdate as at Jun 24, 2011 tells me that my installed version already is Bryce
Bryce 7.1.0.74 which i installed a couple of months ago.
Albeit, MacUpdate does not always get it right.

Bryce 6 from Daz, Bryce 5 from Corel !!
Bryce 4 and older Originals versions from MetaCreations & Eric Wenger what was been advance over its time, was just loose all theirs interest release, after release…
Just littles debugs with button color change all time…
Always say " 100% more speeder !!"
Daz was not speed bryce, We was just change computer CPU !!
Corel was work fine even it was no reals news, it was work on oSx…
But Daz was trashed this app by do nothing new in spirit of app…
if I could, I staid with Corel more clean,
if the dialog box was not bugged…

It's a shame that this is PPC; at least there's dual processor support.
The video demo looks pretty good - rendering seems to be a bit better than previous versions though still not even close to Maya. For $99 you can't beat it.
PS the DAZ website is very slow and the screenshots don't appear. :(

I am certainly a Bryce fan, but does one rush out to buy a new version simply because there is one out? No demo, no interface screenshots or detailed specs -- just BUY it?
Come on DAZ! Get something out there for us to look at, and maybe we'll place an order.
