This is a good app, and the service has improved significantly. The negative ratings here are unfair.

Didn't mean to post a review as I work at Wire… Doesn't seem to be a way to delete it though…

"Bring your friends to Wire by uploading your Contacts"
What could possible go wrong? The NSA will be happy to know the details about your address book.

@Whisperquiet: Signal messaging app or Jitsi do not upload your contacts and both use strong encryption to protect the message contents. Both obviously not the case for "Wire".

Hi, the situation has changed a bit. In fact, phone numbers from address book are hashed before uploading to Wire backend so it doesn't have access to real numbers.

In March 2016 Wire also rolled out end-to-end encryption, video calls and file sharing, video and audio messages. Maybe time to revisit that half star review :)

Full disclosure: I work at Wire

This is an initial release of WIRE. So how does this issue/reason compare with more widely used & established software; with their own potential to read messages? All messaging software and VoIP software has this risk potential attached as far as I can see. But I'm no expert.

Hi, I work at Wire and found this site and your comment. Wire rolled out end-to-end encryption in March 2016 finally making good on that initial mess up. Open sourced the crypto code too.

A01110010101, you obviously have your reasons as to why you only give this app half a star. Would you mind filling us in as to why? TIA
