I downloaded Peppermint when they released their trial. A couple of weeks later, I've absolutely fallen in love with it and decided to buy it - the price is fair and compared to other popular editors in the mac market, it's definitely a bargain.
So, let me share a few thoughts about this little gem of an editor:
- Simple and uncluttered interface. Need tabs? Sidebar? Console? Fine. Need to focus on your code? They're gone.
- Loads of supported syntaxes - and they keep adding even more
- I've been using CodeRunner for testing simple scripts and it worked quite ok. But Peppermint takes this to a whole different level. It's not only easy to run any script (lots of languages supported) but you can also add your own, customize the existing ones, etc
- It comes loaded with plugins that aren't even documented! (See JSLint, JSON utilities, HTML, Less->CSS, Built-in CoffeeScript compiler, Great Markdown editor/previewer, and many more - there's too much to explore, especially if you are a WebDev like me)
- The API looks really powerful and neat (though I must say I prefer the JavaScript version, Coffee is a bit ehmm...)
Last but not least: GREAT SUPPORT. These guys really love what they're doing and they care about their customers. I've contacted them twice for some minor issues (and I wasn't even a paying customer then) and they were more than eager to help. Bonus: I've suggested a minor addition and they've included it in the very next update!
All in all, I highly recommend this editor (very surprised why it's not already in the top ten sellers on the App Store) and I can't wait to see what it is going to grow into!
