Note-taking and annotation made easy.

Thanks to the App Store policy, I to buy this to try it out :-/. Anyway, I very quickly came to realize that this is not a good note taking tool for me. I'm an engineer and I'm often drawing circuits, graphs, writing equations etc. I use a Wacom graphics tablet connected to my Mac for this because I don't like the kind of stylus that typically comes with an iPad. Anyway, I sketched out a circuit and went to use the eraser only to find out all the drawing was vector based and the eraser would delete every object it touched instead of behaving like a real eraser would on a pencil drawing i.e. erase only where the eraser touched. Then I went to select an odd shaped piece in the middle of my drawing so I could move it but the only selection tool available was a selection rectangle - it didn't even have a lasso tool. Sigh - I wasted my money. It has potential, I just need to wait for it to get some basic drawing related features first...

for a Version 2 with an "Insert Space" function I would happily pay 50$ !!

It is going to become more usable. To bad, that there is no "insert space" Button / Command as it is in Onenote for PC. A note taking App should be better than pen and paper not only imitating it.

"Notes look the same on Mac, iPad, and iPhone" Well they don't because there is no dark ui on the mac version so the notes are the same but they look different visually to the ios versions... still waiting

I like Notability, it works well across my iphone, ipad and Macbook, syncs ok with Dropbox, although does not seem to sync locked items. However it is great value compared to a certain other note keeping system.

My only comment is PLEASE can we have the dark UI on the Mac version to match the ios versions

I quite like Notability for its flexibility. In particular I use it to take notes at conferences in presentations. I can take notes and record audio at the same time. Later, I can look at a particular note I took, and the app will take me straight to the point in the audio when I wrote that note down – great for getting context for a note. Also syncs beautifully to my iPhone or iPad. (Actually, I use the iPad version at those conferences!)

The desktop and mobile apps are very good. The most recent update has dramatically improved the UI aesthetics. and functionality. Syncing is flawless.

Here it is almost 1 year later and you *still* can't use this app for drawing and editing just like a pencil and paper experience. This is a complete show stopper for me. Others out there who draw things and never make mistakes or need to edit their drawings may think otherwise, but I'm in awe of the epic fail in which the whole drawing functionality is implemented in Notability.

This app has been great on iOS and the desktop version makes the iOS version that much mor useful. This app is not a go to app for my desktop except that it makes my notes available for integration with othe apps. It's more of a support app for the iOS version. I love the flexibility it gives the iOS app. This app is a very good one that I hope will conte to develop and grow.

Though you can sync via iCloud, I'd really rather have LOCAL sync similar to what you could do using Bento. Anyway, glad to see this is available now for Mac.

Been waiting for this for a long time. The missing piece in my note-taking process. Works with the iOS Notability app for seamless, hassle-free syncing across Mac and iOS devices.
