Recommendation to developer: Make the interface easier to use for someone that doesn't want to reach the documentation to see what each of your icons do when clicked. Maybe add a mouse over text so you know what each button does, instead of clicking blindly, hoping it's the correct function to perform.

I think this is the best personal-finance-manager for the Mac available for this price. It's unfussy; transactions are easily logged and it works fast. It's interface is a bit too meagre; there are little ways to change the columns or to use keyboard-shortcuts in dialog-windows (I would like to be able to book a transfer without using the mouse).

The thing I like about this, that not many of the other's do (not any in fact for Mac's), is that you can look ahead to any given date in the future and know exacly how moch money you are likely to have. Most applicatoins are very bad at forecasting in this way - even the ones with budgeting facilities tend to only give you a monthly summary - which is no good if you are going to be flush at the end of the month but several hundread overdrawn in the middle of the month. You get used to the icons pretty quickly - but there are some problems that made me decide against it. In the recurring transactions there is no option for a yearly transactoin. For me that would be things like car tax, yearly service and MOT costs. There is also no option to set up a recurring transaction that runs into the future forever - you have to set a specified number of months, quarters etc - which means that at the end of that time you have to set up all your regular transactions again. I also couldn't find a way to set groups. Is this a bug or problem with the software? You could work around it but it seems silly to have groups, but not be able to set them up anywhere. I also find it a bit offputting that in the expense, deposit etc windows, your transactions stay there forever. And if you accidentally change the wrong one - it changes ALL of the recurring transactions you have set up. This also means that if the value of a recurring transaction changes, you have to delete all the outstanding instances and set up a new one - you can't just change it becasue that will change all the past instances as well!! On the whole it is potentially a good bit of software - but needs a bit more work and thought. The principle is a little different to most finance applications - but I liked that - If you add a recurring transaction for cash, food etc you can forecast pretty accurately. A minor point - but the colors are a bit hard on the eye - purple and green!!! You would have to have a very particular aesthtic taste to appreciate them!!
