What makes this easier than using OSX's built-in Secure Erase option from the Apple menu?

Option 1:
1. Select Finder
2. Select Secure Empty Trash

Option 2:
1. Select Finder
2. Navigate to Applications folder
3. Click on Annihilator
4. Select "Annihilate"
5. Close Annihilate program

At least it's free so I increased my rating to a half star.

Gave it a try, but it raised too many warning flags right from the start.

MediaFire for delivery? Why not host it on a developer's site.

PKG instead of a DMG? Suspicious, considering Macs want to open and run such files automatically instead of saving them. Too many people will be freaked out if they have half brain and suspect any kind of autorun download.

Install completed without a hitch, so anyone who assumed the download was corrupted, try downloading again.

Installs in its own subfolder under Applications? Again, why bother for one little utility... which most people will place in the desktop or sidebar if they have regular need to zap stuck files.

Program launched and ran, but when executed, it did nothing. Not one file was removed from the "trash". (OSX 10.6.8 and 10.8.3... yeah, codenames are crap and I don't use them).

And then program hangs. And then several other mem-res utilies hang. And then two standard programs hang. Forced quit of Annihilator brought all back to normal. Again, suspicious.

I'm going back to Trash It!, which never left my system and has never let me down. It was even worth making a donation.

I'd like to try it, but the disk image is corrupt. Oh well. (I wanted to post without selecting stars, but it wouldn't let me. Sorry.)
