How the hell am I supposed to upgrade Rails to version 1.1?!

The link goes to the website. You're supposed to BUY it? I ALREADY OWN VERSION 1.0 DAMMIT!

The website is a total POS of DYSfunctionality.

I STRONGLY suggest avoiding the crappy Version 1.0 Syndrome mess! This is BETAWARE QUALITY!

Until such time as thing nasty THING of an app gets its act together and is actually ready for prime time, I refuse to rate it. Meanwhile AVOID RAILS!

Thanks to hugelshofer's post below, I went digging around in my MacUpdate Bundle receipts, including the separate emails I received for Rails, used the provided download URL, again, and version 1.1 now downloaded. Success.

Good news (but an odd Catch 22), Rails 1.1 now includes a menu option to check for updates. So, you have to GET the update before you can CHECK for updates. That's a Catch 22. Anyway, there is a solution. And I'm still going to wait before rating this now somewhat more sane application.

I tried clicking the link in my MacUpdate receipt but in the new browser window that opens it says "Access Denied" along with a bunch of seemingly random characters.
Help!

I see the same ERROR Mrchips. I give up. It's an update specific to one video card, so it may not be important to you.

Well, I'm an idiot. Back in April I must have downloaded (via that link?) v1.0.6 which, it turns out, has the "Check for Updates" menu item. So I ran it, did the check, and now have v1.1.1. :)
I do really like Belight's software - but those who bought the MacUpdate bundle and are still stuck with v1.0.1 might need some help...

Try to restart the game, this might be just a glitch of graphic card. Also, its recommended to install again Rails (version 1.1) from the link in your receipt.

I'm supposed to dig back in my MacUpdate Fall Bundle 2013 receipts for the URL to download this mess AGAIN in order to get version 1.1?!

What the hell is wrong with this developer that they don't provide ANY UPDATE METHOD either in the APP or on their minimalist WEBPAGE?!

Rails, at this point, is INFURIATING! Avoid. Not ready for prime time BETAWARE QUALITY. Shameful.

@Derekcurrie
yes it would be easier to have an update link on the homepage, but reloading from purchases gives you the version 1.1 which is working fine. 1.0 crashes immediatly after start, so it was not possible to reach the update button on the menue bar right beside the apple menu, yes you are able to update from your app very easy, if its running !

I've really enjoyed playing this, the combination of building the railroad and acting as controller of the trains.

It's trickier than I first thought and if you get your road design wrong it causes all sorts of problems later on, but that's the fun of it.

I would like to have a way to see the routes you can build on before starting to add rails, and the ability to quickly cancel a build by pressing ESC or some other key - at the moment you have to retrace the route you are laying with the mouse in order to cancel sections of track.

The "P" key pauses the game but you cannot press it again to un-pause it, which is a bit annoying as you have to click the button in the top left of the screen with the mouse.

It would also be nice to be able to pull up tracks you have already laid in order to improve your railroad, but maybe that's the design of the game to make it harder.

Overall I'm happy with the game, I can see many hours of happy play.

I have paid for the game and received a license code. But I CANNOT FIND A DOWNLOAD LINK--NOT AT MACUPDATE, NOT AT THE DEVELOPER'S WEBSITE. And MISHA / MACUPDATE HAVE NOT RESPONDED TO MY EMAIL ASKING FOR A DOWNLOAD LINK.

MACUPDATE CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES NOT EXIST, IN PRACTICE!!!

1. You emailed me on Saturday. I don't work 24/7.
2. You emailed me directly even though it specifically says next to my contact info not to email me for support issues.
3. You failed to email support@macupdate.com which is the correct address (and what is mentioned on the site)
4. It is Monday morning, we are replying to your email now...

Misha, before I posted my comments, I skyped you earlier today during your service hours and could not reach you.
Also, you are selling the app "half off" for $5 at MacUpdate, but the iTunes store has it for $3.
Finally, why does the download link not work?
I'm sorry you don't like my comments--I wouldn't either, if I were the developer. But you need to get your pricing straight, and you need to supply a valid download link.

We don't offer Skype hours/support, so I'm not sure what you're referring to.
The download link does work, and the iTunes version you speak of is for iPad. The Mac version is $9.99 and is only sold direct from BeLight (or from MacUpdate Promo, occasionally).

The problem's fixed--Just clicking on the supplied link (which should work!) opens the current version (Version 25.0.1364.99) of Chrome, but does NOT download the dmg. I think that's Chrome's quirk...copying and pasting the link into the address window does download the app.
And clicking on the link does work in Firefox and Safari, as it should in Chrome, as well.
Finally, both Alex (belightsoft) and Ryan (MacUpdate) were responsive and helpful, once we did get in touch with each other.
So I WAS WRONG, and I APOLOGIZE for the harshness of my initial comments! My thanks to you guys for your help. And by the way, the program's great!

I'm playing on an iMac 21.5 (1920 x 1080). Can't play "Rails" in the solution 1920 x 1080 and fullscreen-mode doesn't work correctly. Can you solve this issue and will I be able to get the updated version of this game? - "Rails" seems to be a very funny and enjoyable game! Thank you very much!

How can I update to version 1.1? Got this as part of the MacUpdate Bundle and the software itself doesn't seem to check for updates while the link on MacUpdate leads to purchasing the game.
