MemoryOptimizer (was Free The Mem) will automatically free inactive RAM upon launch. Rather than wasting time rebooting, just launch the app and watch your inactive RAM go away. "It just works!" MemoryOptimizer works best when you have closed a memory-intensive app like Final Cut Pro.

Dear Users,
Today we are officially discontinuing MemoryOptimizer due to the new advance technologies in OS X Mavericks such as memory compression. We no longer see the need to support MemoryOptimizer.

Thanks,
Soneé John
15 year old developer/founder of AlphaSoft.

Why are people still falling for these hoax memory "optimisers"??? There is lots of information available for people to learn what inactive RAM actually means, and why for 99% of users purging it will de detrimental or at best neutral... I can't believe these apps that were so popular on Windows many years ago and were soundly debunked are hooking in naive Mac users...

You have some good points and I agree with them. But sometimes Mac OS X just does not release back the inactive memory. I have a iMac 2012 with 8GB of RAM and I have a lot of inactive memory when I just finished using a memory intensive app such as Xcode or Final Cut Pro. MemoryOptimizer enables the user to quickly run the purge command with a single button. It worth knowing that this app is free while others are paid apps :)

FYI: OS X 10.9 uses compressed memory handling. This will render every 'memory optimizers' useless.

Does the same as 'purge' command. Not sure why we need another GUI around it.

@OslsoX Yes I am aware of that :) Also MemoryOptimizer I will have to pull the plug on it soon.

In attempting to download this today, I'm getting a 404 with the following details:

Code: NoSuchKey

This comes up whether I use MacUpdate's download link or the download link on AlphaSoft's website. Please fix!

Just downloaded this and the first thing it said was that an update is available. I let it update itself then it said... "Update canceled because it is not properly signed".

I visited this Developers web site and this application (MemoryOptimizer) is still not even listed or available for download albeit the developer noted this would be corrected.

Strange that the developer does not provide any explanation about this app. at his web site.

Easy and efficient. The ability to quickly create a ram disk is a good idea.

How is this any different from running the purge command in terminal? Not complaining because it's free and helpful for some but I'm sure most could remember one short Terminal command.

Also - it would be nice to have an alert when the app is done clearing. I kept waiting for it to let me know the clearing was complete.

As a former university English professor, I can assure you that English is changing, so it is of no use to use this forum to judge an application which is provided free. I'm pleased that you want to keep English "pure," but that is not the purpose of this forum.

The prefix 'in' can mean more than one thing, if you recall. I'm just trying to support the independent developer in being the clearest he can be for his users.
