I LOVE this app and have used it for years. Up through Monterrey. BUT... now it does not comply with "Google's OAuth 2.0 policy" and I cannot use it with my Gmail/Google accounts unless I use IMAP, which I am not permitted to do on my school (work) account "for security issues". I'm not sure it is being maintained lately and wish it could slide into the FOSS world. Looking for a replacement.

So far as I can tell, Mail Call is not updated to work with current versions of macOS. I can't get it to work with High Sierra. I tried to contact the author, without success. I even had a hard time removing the troublesome application. Correct me if I'm wrong, please. While it worked, Mail Call was a useful, fun program.....

I'm not sure what everyone's problem is with this program, it's not perfect but it does what it should be doing. The program is for those who don't want your main mail program open all the time. My biggest complaints about the program are how it handles certain functions. If you delete something is literally deletes it. This might sound weird but if your used to Gmail's way of handling email trashed items then you will understand. Downloading attached files is a two step process which is strange. Hitting the spacebar opens a selected email but selecting the spacebar while the email is open doesn't close it. I wish this program would see some updates/upgrades, it's been a long while.

I won't rate this app a half star only, so I add my own rating and opinion. And no: I don't overrate it for that purpose. Yes, the price is probably too high but it does what it says and I use it all day as I don't want to have a mail client open all the time. That way I can see immediately if there is something that has to be handled asap or can a little bit longer wait. Sending E-Mails is not comfortable as the mail won't be in my outbox and so I can't see later if I replied to a message or not. But I mainly only use it for a quick look. For this purpose it works fine.

Tried to set up gmail, but gmail won't allow me to connect to their server (app say "Unable to authenticate with the current session's credentials." Also, got an email from Google saying "Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account ******@gmail.com from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards." Google included a link on "Allowing less secure apps to access your account," which they recommend against. Is this a known issue with Mail Call? Will it be updated to fix this? This was my first attempt to use Mail Call. Was really hoping this would work like the old Notify app, but I'm not comfortable making Gmail less secure. I'm using OS X 10.10.

Other than collecting its hefty price, developer doesn't seem very interested in perfecting her application and bringing updates to its many bugs.

I'm glad this has been updated, hopefully the crashing will go away now. Pretty sure it had to do with dual monitors. I'm a bit confused with the Interface improvements line. I see no difference from the last version? Perhaps this update was for Yosemite users? I really wish it would remember where the preview window last opened. I like the fact you can hit the spacebar to open the preview window I only wish you could do the same thing to close it.

Beware--if you're using an earlier version of Mail Call, do NOT install this update. It does precisely the opposite of what it claims (getting rid of the "file is damaged" notice). Once you've replaced your earlier version, it is impossible to restore it, and you will be left with a crippled app.

Does anyone know if this app will also simply take the place of the Google Notifier? I don't want to use Mail Call's GUI (it reminds me too much of the hideous Mail.app. I just want to be notified on my Menu Bar that I have email in my Gmail account and press a button to be taken there. Before anyone recommends other simple apps like Gmail Notifr...I've already tried every one of them available and they each have their problems. Thanks.

Does this app use 10.8+ built-in notifications, or does it use Growl (as Notify.app did/does)? Also, I'll add my voice to the requests for the option of tabbed accounts in the main window (one of Notify's nice features).

In spite of my earlier comment about the price, i bought the app in the App Store. Wether the price is right or not, the app works like a charm, even better then Notify. While installing i was in the Netherlands and the app found a German IMAP server for my French Email-account. (Address German server identical to the one in France, except .de instead of .fr) For all my 4 accounts the app found and used IMAP- and SMTP-servers, gates, SSL-settings... the works. All accounts worked fine for detecting and sending new mail. The one (?) advantage of Notify is the use of tabs which makes it very simple to see in which account there is new mail and to switch between accounts. I'm happy with MailCall although Notify behaved rather well since i installed Mountain Lion. As Apple already has the next OS X on the stove, i thought better to replace an app which is not supported any longer.

Well, although I could not try before I buy, I did e-mail them with some questions. They replied very promptly. I was a big fan of Notify, but that's no longer being supported or developed. Mail Call, to my delight, is very much like Notify; better in some ways. If you liked Notify, you'd probably find this to be worth the investment.
