Fine but ....

Installer isn't signed, so gatekeeper doesn't accept it. You must allow it on System Preferences.

Bad thing, user don't care and he does this more and more !!

Version 5.5.43 is out, but after an hour of use, CUDA Preferences states that an "update is required", but "no newer CUDA Driver is available." GPU driver recently updated to 8.25.9 (331.01.01f01). Running OS X 10.9.2 on an 8-core Xeon Mac Pro with a GeForce GTX 660.

It's great to see these drivers listed here. However, the current version appears to be 5.5.28 - as found by the installed pref pane.
The 5.5.25 version shows up in the archive section http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html

And what's the connection with the "Identify hidden plaque in arteries: ..." in the product description? Just slipped in there somehow.

Also, the stars rating seems to have locked up - I couldn't change the stars on anything but Stability.

It's been my experience that you cannot change a star ratting once you make it in a MacUpdate review. Quite frustrating. You have to cancel out and start again to change the settings. Copy your text first, though, so you can paste it into the new version of your review.

After upgrading to OSX 10.8.3, Nvidia CUDA Preference Panes 5.0.37 pop up at each startup, asking me to upodate the software, where the check for update button is grayed out stated that there is no update available.

This must be a bug because it happen immediately after upgrading to OSX 10.8.3

NVIDIA has a new version on their site that fixes this issue.

  • Identify hidden plaque in arteries: Heart attacks are the leading cause of death worldwide. Harvard Engineering, Harvard Medical School and Brigham & Women's Hospital have teamed up to use GPUs to simulate blood flow and identify hidden arterial plaque without invasive imaging techniques or exploratory surgery.
  • Analyze air traffic flow: The National Airspace System manages the nationwide coordination of air traffic flow. Computer models help identify new ways to alleviate congestion and keep airplane traffic moving efficiently. Using the computational power of GPUs, a team at NASA obtained a large performance gain, reducing analysis time from ten minutes to three seconds.
  • Visualize molecules: A molecular simulation called NAMD (nanoscale molecular dynamics) gets a large performance boost with GPUs. The speed-up is a result of the parallel architecture of GPUs, which enables NAMD developers to port compute-intensive portions of the application to the GPU using the CUDA Toolkit.
