Exttra allows you to edit the metadata attached to certain files or directories by the Mac OS, it’s subsystems, or by any application that desires to store little bits of information just beyond your reach.

Exttra's goal is to provide a graphical user interface to the xattr command. It attempts to allow you to perform all the tasks described in the manual for the xattr command.

From the manual page, "The xattr command can be used to display, modify or remove the extended attributes of one or more files, including directories and symbolic links. Extended attributes are arbitrary metadata stored with a file, but separate from the filesystem attributes (such as modification time or file size). The metadata is often a null-terminated UTF-8 string, but can also be arbitrary binary data."

Features:
  • Basic functionality to view a list of attributes and view their associated values.
  • Ability to edit the attribute names and attribute values.
  • Select a file by dragging a file to the drop zone, using the Open File menu command, or by typing in the path directly.
