Pretty good product, simple and does what it is supposed to do, but there are 3 annoyances that need to be changed...

1) App should retain window position from last use
2) App should retain window size from last use
3) Give the user the ability to scan alternate subnets

Good software, but horrible company policy.
To only be able to get through MAS is a mistake I will NEVER make again.
I was stupid enough to go through the same mistake twice, and I will NEVER purchase from MAS again.
It took months of back and forth with Apple to just get my AppleID working again, so my computer could do updates. And this is the app I purchased that caused it all.
I couldn't even access my previous purchases, OS updates, or anything.
Once there's a problem on MAS, your life becomes hell.
I will only use it in the future for freeware, and the one choice that none of us can avoid; to upgrade to the next version of the OS.
Any company that distributes only through MAS is making a terrible mistake!
I used to think that Microsoft was all controlling and wanted to take over everything. That was before the Mac App Store.
It's Microsoft times a million.
They not only screw over their customers, but they are a nightmare for developers too.
Why would anyone knowingly put themselves through this?
These developers are going to keep losing customers over this.
I switched to Reunion and didn't upgrade to Mac Family Tree because they are only available form MAS.
The more they lose customers, the better. Maybe eventually they will get a clue and go back to selling through their own company websites.
It's not worth the restriction Apple puts on the developers, and the nightmare it causes the users.
Some companies are smart enough to offer direct and MAS versions, like 1Password, but those companies are going to have to deal with the heat that MAS causes their users.

This is why our other application Debookee is not on the AppStore.

It includes a LanScan plugin, would love to hear your feedback.

It needs a notes column apart from just the Hostname. I generally use a spreadsheet and have a location column, as well as a notes column--I often add which address is wireless and which is wired on machines with multiple interfaces.

As well, would be nice if it saved the devices there were present on prior launches. Would make it easier to see what's missing.

Nice app... but I'd really like to be able to assign more user friendly device names / locations to each device.. Like Kitchen Airport Express, Living Room Airport Express, Living Room TiVo, etc... and have LanScan remember these when I re-open it. This is especially helpful since often devices don't respond with any name... or the same name which is useless if you have more than one (we have FOUR Apple Airport Express extending our WiFi in our large house).

Hi Brokendon,

Have you tried the "Edit Hostname" function ?
By right-clicking menu, click on the icon or double-click on the hostname cell, you can edit the hostname of each device to a custom more-user-friendly one, and LanScan Pro will remember it when you re-open it.

Exactly the feature you're looking at ...

Are you talking about LanScan Pro or LanScan Free edition (which doesn't resolve hostname yet) ?

MU lists the price at $5.99 while the developer list price at $4.99 and $5.99 - guessing this is a form of AppStore tax, but it's confusing.

Hi Y-Guy,

Our mistake: the price is $5.99 but we missed a modification on our website. It will be corrected today.

Thanks for the feedback.
