Payload Extractor

1.2
07 December 2012

Open and view OS X .pkg files.

Overview

Payload Extractor is a utility that opens Mac OS X .pkg files, the same files opened by the OS X Installer application. But unlike the Installer application, Payload Extractor allows you to decide which file(s) you install and where you install them.

For example, you could use it if you needed to replace only one damaged file in an installation, or if you wanted to install another version of an application without installing over the previous version.

Garmin provides some .dmg files that contain multiple apps within a single .pkg file. Payload Extractor only shows the first of the apps in the .pkg.

yep surely it will be more stable, and all packages will recognise it and open up automarically... :) for sure a must to have!

Why? All a developer signature means is that you'll pay apple money to develop. It doesn't mean the app is any better or worse. And anyone who can't make up their own mind about how safe an app is deserves the worst when the whole system backfires.

You can authenticate and install apps that don't come from the app store in the current versions of Mountain Lion. You may have to control click and use an admin password, but that should do it.
