Memory optimisation is placebo at best and hoax software at worst. There is plenty of information for users to understand why purging inactive RAM is detrimental 99% of the time...

With no apps running my Macbook Pro showed 3200 MB used RAM out of 8000 MB. Ran RAM Cleaning 1.0 and nothing changed. No RAM was freed. I rebooted and the Mac showed less than 2000 MB used. So this app did absolutely nothing.

The program does the same thing. Only there is no need to go into the terminal and enter the command.

I had problems with runaway RAM usage in Mavericks, which turned out to be because of Default Folder X. If you use Default Folder, version 4.6 is now available and fixes the problem.

Presumably, you don't have purge installed. As per:
http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=44952#p379622
it's part of Xcode, available from here:
https://developer.apple.com/technologies/tools/
or the App Store.

u can open Terminal.app and execute "which purge" to check if your system has 'purge' installed. At my machine it shows "/usr/bin/purge" and it will show nothing if it's not there.

Yes, open a terminal and type the "purge", check.

This looks interesting but I'd rather it not run in the background. I'd rather invoke it when I please.

I think the dev meant: when u start the app to 'purge' it runs in the background (no interface), not that this app sits in the background and waits to 'purge' something.

Many thanks for the review!
I've been doing this program for myself, but I decided that I can share with people. Program with such a function in the appstore sell for $ 5 - theft!
I added the program to the Dock. Now run it when I need it.

Paul, due to the fact you shared your app here I gained the knowledge about the command "'purge" :) which I will remember next time my machine slows down. txs

rkey77, I made this program to ensure that every time you do not run the terminal - it's very uncomfortable. Clicked on the icon, and the RAM is cleared. This is much faster than running a terminal and enter the command.
I was surprised how many of these programs are sold for money. This is really stealing. Therefore place higher estimate, let people receive free that free.
Thank you.
...and forgive me for the bad English. :D

It's so small in size I got interested.

--> java wrapper that includes an AppleScript that executes the shell script command "purge". Just to be clear: I did not run this app but instead I peaked into the application-package.

Using Terminal.app and executing "man purge" (man = manual) it tells me this:

purge -- force disk cache to be purged (flushed and emptied)

DESCRIPTION
Purge can be used to approximate initial boot conditions with a cold disk buffer cache for performance analysis. It does not affect anonymous memory that has been allocated through malloc, vm_allocate, etc.
