AppKiller is a simple menu bar application that allows the user to quickly kill running applications. In addition, AppKiller allows the user to send any of the underlying BSD signals to any process on the system including those owned by other users, including root.

AppKiller is useful for killing or otherwise controlling processes without resorting to the command line or firing up heavier-weight applications such as Activity Monitor; of particular use if the system is experiencing performance issues. Any BSD signal can be sent.

Greg,

I'm seeing this on the dev's site: "AppKiller is available to download, for free, here. It is a 64-bit application and runs on Mac OS X 10.7 or later. It requires an Administrator password for the initial installation."

Are you seeing 10.8 somewhere?

Developer responded: "Hi Greg,

Thanks for the e-mail - the latest version of AppKiller should run with no problems on Lion.

We've corrected the mismatch on the web page too - thanks!

P"
I've downloaded and will smoke-test it.

All,

The new beta version should run under 10.7. We're seeing some reports of problems relating to code signing. If you do have problems please let us know via e-mail at feedback@serialangels.co.uk and we'll work to get things fixed.

Many thanks!

Does AppKiller have any issues with OS X 10.9 Mavericks? I upgraded to Mavericks today, and now every time I try to launch the app, it immediately crashes. This happens even after trashing the plist. I even tried downloading a fresh copy, but same problem.

Hi,

I've not had any problems reported so far - is there an error message when it crashes?

If you're able to e-mail at feedback@serialangels.co.uk we can figure out what's happening.

Thanks,

P

NOT compatible with 10.7:

Despite the developer website claim that this app runs on 10.7, it DOES NOT. When you attempt to run the app it reports:

"You can't use this version of the application AppKiller.app with this version of Mac OS X. You have Mac OS X 10.7.5. The application requires Mac OS X 10.8 or later.

This is a developer documentation blunder, not MacUpdate's fault.
