ARA archive utility.

Overview

"Archivaldo" is no longer in development and its replaced by ArKiwi.

Archivaldo is the free file archiver for the rest of us, where you can add, compress, extract, delete, password protect & fast search all your files in a compact binary file system called ARA (Archivaldo Resource Archive). The ARA file is a file system with the capacity to accommodate theoretically unlimited numbers of files, of any size or type (jpg, gif, avi, mpg, ogg, mov, txt, mp3, mp3, acc, doc, iso, etc.) only limited by the free space available in your hard disk or storage device. Also, you can add or remove files from your Archivaldo archive at any time, Archivaldo will contract or expand dynamically the archive depending on your needs.

Archives are no smaller than a ZIP file and in a unique format. Can't pack many kinds of files such as applications. There is no way to select multiple, individual files in the awkwardly named "Pack" dialog. Shift-click dose work for selecting a range of files--albeit skipping over all the files that apparently can't be archived.

Hmm, I wonder why messing around with exotic and proprietary archive formats that no one else can open? Thanks for the offer, but I prefer to stick with the ZIP format, which is built right into the system.
