GL Tron is a 3-D lightcycle game inspired by the film Tron (or rather, all the games inspired by the film Tron). GL Tron features high-quality OpenGL full-screen graphics, cinematic camera angles, sound fx, and fast action with up to 4 players on the same machine.

I read the other reviews and some of them really ticked me off. First off, GLTron DOES run on Mac OS 8.6. That's what I run it on. Perhaps someone was a dum-dum and tried playing the OSX version on 8.6? Anyways, this is an incredibly addicting game, perhaps not that in depth, but it comes very close to capturing the essence that is Tron. The music (okay, song) is very well orchestrated, and fits the mood perfectly. My only gripe is the rate at which the game recieves commands on older computers. If for example, another lightcycle crashes while I am approaching a wall, there will be a painfully long moment in which I have no control (this is deadly at high speeds). Other than that, though, the game is very good, it's a small download, and it's free! Go get it now!
This works great on my G3 iMac. Brings back good memories too of the movie and makes you realize how far we have come since then. You can't beat the price either!
This game does work on 8.6, but it requires OpenGL and DrawSprocket, and is a little unstable. The graphics are incredible, but that's to be expected with a GL game. Unfortunately, the game doesn't have very much to offer in terms of actual gameplay. The computer settings are all variations of "stupid" and the viewpoint control is horrible, and many basic features that have been present in Tron games for a while are missing. There's also no real way to switch controls, and the entire interface is very non-Macintosh oriented. It's fun to look at for a while, and a great example of what OpenGL can do (if it works for you) but those are the only reasons to keep it.
