Control Pandora radio.

Overview

Note: PandaRemote is no longer under development, and it is no longer available for sale.

PandaRemote is a beautiful, simple, unobtrusive interface for controlling Pandora: check out the screenshots!

Pandora the way you want it, now free! In a browser, in a miniplayer; controlled via keyboard or Apple Remote, iPhone, iPad or mobile browser!

PandaRemote gives you a simple, powerful and beautiful interface for controlling your tunes from your desktop computer, Apple Remote or mobile device. There are two pieces to PandaRemote:

  • The PandaRemote desktop program (you're viewing this now). This is where your music actually plays. You can control the tunes in any number of ways: using the normal browser, miniplayer controls, application menu, Apple Remote, a Web browser or Global Hotkeys. PandaRemote provides Growl notifications. You can let the sound play on the computer speakers or use any number of commercial hardware solutions to stream the music from your computer to your home stereo. An optional purchased license removes the watermark on the album art, the occasional reminder track, and allows playing high-quality audio on Pandora One accounts.
  • A beautiful, native, free iPhone/iPad application (free in the iOS App Store): view album art, rate, pause and skip the currently-playing song.

PandaRemote gives you the familiar Pandora browser interface you're used to, but once you try the convenient miniplayer, Growl notifications, keyboard control and optional mobile control, you might find yourself using that browser interface less and less.

Check out the screenshots and get the app which prompted one user to rave: "...awesome. No other word describes it. My compliments to your engineering team."

I've been using PandoraMan for a while. It's OK, but you have to enter your log in ID every time it's launched and it always starts playing the station at the top of the list first. So if I don't pounce on it, it's Christmas in July every time! PandaRemote remembers your log in, if you choose that option, and the station you were listening to the last time. That's a big help.

In addition to PandaRemote, you may also try tools like on premise R-HUB remote support servers. It provides a simple and easy to use interface and works from behind the firewall, hence better security.

Great App! love the fact that I can use the Apple Remote and don't have to log in every time. Another good feature is it starts from the last playlist. Just a couple of questions. 1) The apple remote feature is for aluminum model right? Because I'm using the older white model and not all of the buttons are responding. and 2) When I click the menubar icon for the mini player is also shows the main browser. Is this a problem that only I'm having or is this a known issue? Thanks again

Hi sylenfury - I'm using the older white model and things work fine. What buttons are you having issues with? If you go to PandaRemote Preferences, you see the mappings removed by PandaRemote (which are configurable (!)). As for the main browser showing when you click the menubar icon, can you tell me the exact steps to reproduce this from the moment you start PandaRemote? Thanks again.

Well I'm having issues with the Play/Pause and the Menu buttons. Maybe it's just my remote. I'll have to test it out. And for the main browser I figured out that I have to minimize the main browser not hide it. Thanks for the reply!

@Negritude - Sorry for the confusion. As you pointed out, you are getting a non-expiring trial version from macupdate.com The App Store version is a paid offering. We are in the process of submitting a free offering to the App Store similar to the one here on Macupdate, but there are issues due to the new sandboxing rules and our use of Apple Remote. Hope this answers your question; if you have other questions, you can also use the Support section of our website (pandaremote.com).

I see this on the developer's web site: "You can get PandaRemote from the Mac App Store (button on the right, OS X 10.7 or greater, 64-bit only) or download the non-expiring, trial version directly from us using the button below (OS X 10.6 or greater, 32- or 64-bit.)" What is a non-expiring trial version? That's what we're getting through MU, but it's not clear how it's different from the MAS version.
