Does NOT do what it says, at least not on Images or Shopping pages.

If I run a search for any item then click the Images or Shopping links, the links are obfuscated.

I searched for sunglases, then clicked Images. Instead of the first image directing me to wikipedi.com, I get this mess:
http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fcommons%2F4%2F4b%2FRayBanAviator.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FSunglasses&h=2050&w=3500&tbnid=pkaSi-xCnWVE6M%3A&zoom=1&docid=sf7Z6ei5ChSLuM&ei=R5VMU9XPGKWbygHOh4DoCw&tbm=isch&ved=0CGkQMygAMAA&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=1533&page=1&start=0&ndsp=28

Same in the Shopping tab: The link for gucci.com becomes http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fcommons%2F4%2F4b%2FRayBanAviator.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FSunglasses&h=2050&w=3500&tbnid=pkaSi-xCnWVE6M%3A&zoom=1&docid=sf7Z6ei5ChSLuM&ei=R5VMU9XPGKWbygHOh4DoCw&tbm=isch&ved=0CGkQMygAMAA&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=1533&page=1&start=0&ndsp=28

Crap - I pasted the same link twice. My ⌘ key doesn't always work unless I press it hard, so I didn't copy the 2nd link.

Sure would be nice if MU would allow previewing and editing of reviews!

THIS is what I get for the gucci.com link:

The feature for rewriting Google Image search links doesn't seem to work. Clicking thumbnails in image search results still does the same thing as before — takes me to a page with the image displayed over a capture of the page it appears on, etc.

Thanks for the report. There is a bug either in the extension or in Safari (I'm still investigating). A workaround is to wait for the thumbnail to zoom before clicking it. (I'm assuming your google image search results have zooming thumbnails, like mine do.)

That should be fixed now. Please check Safari's extension manager for the 1.0.1 update, or use the download link on this page.

  • Blocking one method Google uses to track which search results you click. (It may or may not be the only method.)
Optionally, the extension will also rewrite the links in Google image search results so that clicking a thumbnail will open the linked image directly.

LinkThing users, please note: This extension provides a subset of the functionality of LinkThing. Don't install this if you use LinkThing.
