I purchased this game from MacGameStore too. It works quite nicely on my unsupported iMac 10,1. I turned down all the display options and turned off music and ambiance. Love the game.

I have Splinter Cell for macosx with non steam and buy it from macgamestore.com and always crash every time i try to play and the game is not working completely except when after first time the game installed. i try contact the support team on macgamestore but very dissappointed not to respone my problem, and also ubisoft not support for mac user. And this crash until now ubisoft still not to respone to release new patch for fix the problem. and several month i did not ever play the game which i have already buy.fell crazy about Ubisoft who make me lost $24,95 and don't have a responsibility to sell the game for Mac port but unplayable. i hope someday Ubisoft to have more attentions for they're game that ported for mac user. many many ways i have tried to make the game working on my Macbook Pro 15". Suddenly i have a simple way that not need to thinking hard to make working the game. Okey now the steps

- If you already install the game just run the game as usually, fill the Ubi account and your password in first looks of the Ubi launcher. (optional: you can check'Remember me')
-Click Login
- Suddenly first launcher disappear and comes up the second one Ubi launcher. in this step you will see that launcher said "LAUNCHING". at this momment you will need click a wheel little icon at right above of the second launcher, suddenly it show up a pop up that says "SAVED GAME SETTING Do you want to disable saved games to be stored online? bla...bla...bla....ect" and you just need to click 'OK'
- Restart your game launcher
- If the game still not working, you need to uninstall your Splinter Cell Conviction with UninstallSC5 that you can find it in original DMG game file or in your mac applications folder/ubisoft/Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction/UninstallSC5. if you not using this app to uninstall, your game will cannot reinstall to your Mac.if this happen just run UninstallSC5
-in the final step just reinstall the game and play it forever and ever and no need to change anything, i garantee your game will be working now. HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!!

SO the conclusion of this bug is you must make launcher to disabled from to make saved game to be stored online

Sorry to say this but I find the support at the MacGameStore one of the best I've encountered ever! They are very friendly and always prepared to help at any time... I can give you a few examples of failing CD keys or serials, but at the end they always helped me out so I could run my purchased game in the best conditions. Just be nice, open a ticket, explain your problem as good as possible, etc.

Believe me when I say this:

Don't buy this!

I bought this from Steam on the last summer sale and was certain that it would work on my iMac because it is beyond the minimum requirements on Steam. Well, it launches and plays, but barely. Seriously, most of the time I had about 5fps on the lowest settings. And as you can see it's still version 1.0.0 so nothing has changed.

Just saying and warning anyone who wants to buy it. But go ahead and try it if you're feeling lucky.

I've completely the opposite experience with the game. I just did not bought it from Steam. I play this game on a 27" iMac 11,1 (late 2009). A Core i7 @ 2.8GHz with 8Gig of RAM and a Radeon HD 4850 with 512Mb VRAM. All settings are high, max native resolution (2560x1440), ... The game runs very smooth with those settings. And it's looking beautiful with this settings. I'm sure I never go below 30fps and most of the time frame rates are 60+. Must be a Steam thing or something like that? Sincerely.

Well, for one thing you have Core i7 and I have 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. And you have HD 4850 512MB and I have HD 4670 256MB. My iMac is also late 2009 model, just 21,5" iMac 10,1.

The biggest difference I believe is the processor. Surprised to see how big of a difference that makes.

But still, I'm the worst case scenario where my specs met the requirements but it still didn't work as it should. (It seems they have changed the requirements quite a bit since I bought the game)

So just be very sure your specs meet the current requirements before throwing your money to Ubisoft. And if you're on OS X Lion, don't even bother, it's not supported.

Seems that you are below the min. specs that I'm reading in my game-folder.

Mac hardware minimum requirements ========================

Supported OS : Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo
RAM : 2 GB
Video Card : 512MB video card (see supported list*)
DVD-ROM : 8x DVD-ROM
Hard Drive Space : 10.0 GB free
Internet Connection : 128 kbps Broadband

Mac hardware recommended requirements ========================

Supported OS : Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Processor : Intel Core i7
RAM : 3GB RAM
Video Card : 1024MB video card (see supported list*)
DVD-ROM : 12x DVD-ROM or faster
Hard Drive Space : 10.0 GB free
Internet Connection : 256 kbps Broadband

You need min. a graphics card with 512Mb VRAM.

The game runs just fine in Lion. Even better then in SL! Why should it not be supported in Lion?
I guess you don't use the 'Ubisoft Gamelauncher' for starting the game? It's all self updating (the game and the launcher)...

Anyway, if you're below graphic specs by 50% it's normal that you don't have smooth gameplay. Don't you think?

I can assure you that it runs very smooth under Lion (10.7.3). And also that you'll have a very enjoyable gameplay when your hardware has the min requirements for the game. And just to be sure, don't buy it via Steam ;)

Well yes, the only spec that is below the minimum is the graphics card RAM.

I'm not going to argue about my specs anymore, I guess this game appearing here just brought back the disappointment I had when I bought this game, even on very low price. That's all.

And yes, overall almost any game works better on Lion even at my end, but in Steam it reads that OS X 10.7 Lion is not supported for this game.

As crappy as Steam is on OS X it's not the main issue, or an issue at all. Only thing is that this game is cheaper on the App Store.

And about the launcher; yes it does use the launcher, Steam is only for buying and downloading the game.

Sorry for this btw, I had no meaning to start an argue with anyone, but I guess my first post deserved it :P

I bought the same game from the same vendor. Works fine on my unsupported hardware. I didn't try to read your comments whole. My eyes hurt too much and it gave me a headache trying to understand you.

Active stealth will force you to think and act quickly. However, as always, you will have to weigh the risk of heavy force against other options.
  • Black market: Use your underground connections to gain access to black market gadgets and weapons, and complete your objectives by using consumer-grade gear in ways that were not intended.
  • Crowd in multiplayer: Play with, or against, your friends in the midst of a civilian crowd
