I checked what's downloading at the developer site. It says it's 1.1.2, but what you get is still 1.1.0. That's for the developers to straighten out. Sometimes developers forget to increment the version number. But the date on the file is November 3, 2013. So this is indeed an old version.

So hmm: The version at the Apple Mac App Store is 1.1.2. OK.

Except I'm going to stick with what's at the developer's website as they I've gotten caught with broken Mac App Store versions and had to wait for Apple to approve the fixed version I can already download via the developer's website. Exm: I'm currently waiting for Apple to approve a bug fixed version of the 'Cookie' application that kills a big fat bug. I wish I'd gotten it at the developer's site. Etc.

The new version is ICQ 1.0.2 and it does not require AdobeAir. I tried it with MacOS 10.7 and it works nicely.

This oooold version still runs on 10.6.7 and rarely crashed over the past 8 years..
There is a new official Mac-version based on Adobe AIR, but it doesn't import my old databases (history), so I keep up using this old one for now. The old version has_no_ gimmicks at all, it is a straight text-based messenger and that's what I want. No web 2.0 fuzz, no multi-feature bastard. That's why I was never jealous about the "feature-rich" Windows version..

Indeed. However, the old version is a PPC binary and therefore won't run on Lion. So if you want to continue using it you'll have to use the version with all the new cheese (if you upgrade to Lion next month).

Why can't we get e decent version of ICQ? No audio, no video, no universal binary. Even ICQ2go is better than the Mac version.

I would agree... except this way, we don't have to deal with their banner ads either.

More than any other IM service, ICQ seems to have the biggest problem with spam messages. Its very common for me to wake up in the morning and find 10-15 of these messages waiting for me.

It has gotten so bad that I rarely ever connect to ICQ anymore.

This app is kinda aged! it definitely has lost ground to other IM programs.

An update would be great!

The application doesn't open properly. OS 10.4.6, dual G5... it recognizes that it's an App, but it has the standard 'application' icon, and opens by default in textedit as a bunch of jumbled code.
