I used Tagger and was loving it so much until it corrupted my mp3s. Now l cannot play two hundred songs that l painstakingly downloaded and scrubbed from YouTube and other sources. I was using MusicBrainz but had a problem with removing tags. Has anyone else had their mp3s corrupted by this? I tried using repair mp3 programs with no luck.
I was lured in by the inclusion in the description of "Artwork editing", but it seems it is more cutting and pasting than anything that would qualify as editing. What I need to do is make sure that all the artwork jpegs are less than 500x500, but I have yet to find a utility that will do this for me. Anyone have any ideas? Otherwise this app looks OK for what it does actually do, and you really can't argue with free!
I'd love to give this software a whirl, but it can't access any files not on the main system drive. I have 2 drives in my iMac, and all my media is on my larger "media" drive. Tagger will only show my main SSD that I boot off of.
I'm still looking for the "auto-tagging" part. To me that would be using the content from an existing tag or user input and conducting a search in order to get complete tag data including art.
This doesn't seem to be the aim of Tagger. It does have great functions for affecting tags, but these aren't more powerful than my handful of Applescripts I've collected since a long time.
I tried the 1.7beta too.
The developer is responsive and genuine, but I think the presentation of the features must be more to the point to not set the wrong expectations.
Tagger starts on OS X 10.6.8 but when I go to my iTunes folder nothing is shown. If I drop a smaller folder with music files on the Tagger window it crashes with "Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread"
Tagger looks promising but I can't use it.
A great piece of software. Really deserves a "6" for ease of use; everything is displayed in one window, and all the functionality is quite obvious; in addition the package comes with documentation, in case that is necessary for some. I was editing tags within a minute of installing the program. Seems to edit all the pertinent information I can think of. Good stuff, good stuff.
Hi, great software, any chance that it can check subfolders as an option (or default) so that I may see all files in all subfolders in a directory? Thanks!
The MU write-up says OS 10.7+ for version 1.6.2, while the developer's readme page says 1.6.2 is for 10.6+.
Which is it, and is there a version for 10.6? It was not clear from the change-log page.
A little clarity would a long way, Mr. Developer.
... "an application that (auto) tags audio files"? for sure it doesn't even see FLACs and AIFFs that, as far as I know :-p , are audio files!
could the author, please, write somewhere which file formats his app supports? thanks ;-)
So far - awesome! i've wanted an app for this for quite a while. I love "renumber files" (renumber tracks) - that is so useful for what I do with batch bounces from logic using XLD. iTunes can di the same with a applescript, but this is much less clunky. Bravo! I wish it would set the total tracks too when you choose renumber, but its easy to do that separately and I can imagine scenarios where you would NOT want both to happen at once.
Very nice program - works just fine for me on Lion. Only issue I came across very quickly was in renaming files from tags. Certain characters, most notably "/" in the title tag ie. " Love Minus Zero/No Limit" will stop the renaming process. I did not check out other characters that might not work. Overall, I do like this program. A whole lot of features for free. How about renaming the containing folder based on Artist & Album in the future?
