VisualSniff is a handy tool to help you to visualize network activity nearby your laptop or workstation. Once you start it up and select the network interface to listen on, it will immediately begin to show you both Ethernet and IP hosts that you are communicating with as well as giving you realtime feedback regarding the volume of data and the direction that it's going in.

This tool is reminiscent of the EtherApe tool that was available for Linux.
