HardwareGrowler overview

HardwareGrowler is the best way to find out when hardware status changes on the Mac. If you need to know what's going on with your Mac, then you need HardwareGrowler.

When your power cable unplugs, HardwareGrowler will spring into action and lets you know about it. Plug in a device like a keyboard, thumb drive, or even a usb headset and get notified about the hardware changes.

HardwareGrowler will also let you know about changes to networking on your Mac. When a wireless connection changes to a different access point or an IP address changes, you'll be notified about the change.

HardwareGrowler is what you need if you need to know about your hardware. HardwareGrowler uses Growl to provide notifications or can do it all by itself. Simple to use, easy to configure, HardwareGrowler is the application for those who need to know.

Works ok on my late 2013 27 inch iMac running macOS Mojave 10.14.2. With the OS notifications is this app still needed?

I have 2 Growl icons and 3 Hardware Growler icons in my iMac's dock. I checked and I have only one app of each installed. Anyone having the same problem?

OK, so people are making fun of the unplug notification. It is practical. On my MacBook Pro, I would actually like to know if the MagSafe plug has disconnected, because there are times when the first time I noticed that the power lead was disconnected is because a low battery warning popped up...and I needed that battery to stay charged for when I left the building. But I also use Hardware Growler to let me know about things like when the wireless router I'm using (away from home) goes offline, or to confirm when a USB or FireWire volume is fully dismounted so that I can unplug it. There are more examples but suffice to say I have found Hardware Growler informative for years with Growl. It can also be used for things like reporting Bluetooth devices coming into range.

"When your power cable unplugs, HardwareGrowler will spring into action and lets you know about it. " I don't know about anybody else, but when my power cable unplugs I know it because my computer stops working.

I like the premise and the function, but MAN is this thing a memory hog! Typically used 185 Meg or so and at times gets up over 500 Megs! Usually a quit and restart of it will bring it back down to 125 Megs where is slowly climbs over days to 500 Megs or so.

even if hardwaregrowler doesn't let you edit every icon (package contents), at least in the old version, you get a nice airport and network utility icons (utilities folder) for network notifications.

When your power cable unplugs, HardwareGrowler will spring into action and lets you know about it. The fact that my MacPro will suddenly grind to a halt if this happens might alert me to the fact

I can't believe that HardwareGrowler now costs 1.99 USD! I was always happy to donate something and I also accepted that they started charging for Growl but the Addons..
