As others have been pointing out, Fuse v2.8.3 is the release version. Version 3.4.1 is still a developer preview and probably not something the average user should be trying.
Just installed the latest stable release from osxfuse.github.io on El Capitan. Mind to enable the MacFUSE compatibility, MacFUSE itself will not work. Installed sshfs too and macfusion is working again.
I would not install this version (3.3.2 beta), just use latest stable version 2.8.3.
NOTE that the current public release version of OSXFUSE is 2.8.3. The version 3 series is so far a 'Developer Preview' and is NOT intended for general use. That includes version 3.3.1. Visit the developer's website for v2.8.3.
Question here... I am running OS X 10.11.3 and Windows 10 Pro (using Boot Camp) on my MacBook Pro. I'd like to be able to transfer some music files over to the Windows side from the Mac side. Will OSXFUSE let me do this without damaging the Boot Camp installation? Thanks!
Current version is 2.8.1 BUT won't install on OS X El Capitan unless it has been installed before upgrading.
The problem seems to be that El Capitan does not allow the creation of the necessary folders in usr.
If you installed it BEFORE updating to El Capitan then there is no problem.
QUESTION..
I used to install this on my Mac since the McFuse days, then when cleaning things up for my Yosemite install I deleted it.. I never once had an app request it since.. my question is.. what's the point of installing this, what apps actually need it ?
Have it on two Mac Pros and a Macbook Air and never had an issue in three years. I think, some reviewers should widen their perspective instead of blaming OSXFuse for everything, including bad weather.
I encounter the following problem.
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libfuse.
2.dylib
Referenced from: /usr/local/bin/ntfs-3g
Reason: image not found
I give the following ratings because I had successfully read/write NTFS and function transparently.
But thanks for the efforts made.
Lots of people have had the same issues I had. They were not limited to Spotlight and my hardware was a brand new Retina MacBook Pro. With AppleCare, which I would have used had I any other "hardware issues." One need not look far to find others with exactly the symptoms I reported, including the FUSE forums. I think it's curious that the last reply to my review came just days after I asked the FUSE team to cease emailing me with very personal responses. If the developer really wants to be treated like professionals they should learn to act like one.
Terrible, horrible even—for me—malware. Before you install do a search for "how to uninstall OSXFUSE." And also MacFuse. Like others I had HD-destroying, months long kernel panics before I realized it was this, and I'm still suffering because the "developer" won't help. You can delete it via the PrefPanel but parts remain, doing who-knows-what because they remain active. Just check Activity monitor for what the "MDS" panic means. I fell for these reviews and hope others won't make the same mistake.
Working well as a replacement for MacFuse but I would like to see an update that fixes the timeout issue on Lion with NTFS-3g
The suggested fix (https://gist.github.com/1100318#gistcomment-41742) has been there since July but still no new version that includes it (it's December now).
